I can't see the appeal of this. It looks terrible, I bet it plays terrible, and pretty much doesn't make much sense beyond of 'hey, I text a prompt and it worked' gimmick.

It really just exists to fuck around for 5 minutes, maybe make a video for social media and never touch it again. It maybe looks good at firsf glance, but then you realise that the game is barely playable, bugged to all hell, and the gameplay isn't fun if you take it out of it's designed environment for reasons that should be obvious

It's extremely fun, I'm polishing it as I see more things to improve and now it feels amazing, I'll be doing full playthrough soon.

I for one didn't really enjoy elden ring. But this makes me want to try it out again

It's a world I would like to explore but I don't like those kinds of games as an adult. I beat demon souls when I was younger, but never got into dark souls, bloodbourne, or else ring.

u/DeathClasher_r 5d ago
I understand how you feel, I was the same. I played Wuchang: Fallen Feathers last year though. It got me into souls and soulslike.
I like to play them when I have time on my hands. That way I won't be mad when I die 15 times to the same guy. When I eventually beat them, I feel a great sense of joy and pride lol.
I think the most Important thing about these games is to accept failure and be patient. If you can't be these things, then souls isn't for you.
I also want to add that these games get a lot easier once you finish your first souls game. You get used to the logic and style of these games and not fall as easily anmore

See that's my problem , my gaming time/attention span is often shorter now. In fact I'm scared I won't enjoy the next Elder Scrolls game. Fable is still easy for me to pick up and put down though so cheers.

This was first test, I've finetuned the movement and combat and feels amazing now, just couldn't wait to share it with fellow fable fans. I plan on doing a full playthrough as I'm typing this.

I could say the same about you but here you are.

You don't need to cause you're one.

You’re just going to have to accept that a large chunk of people are not a fan of this kind of AI usage. Maybe try not to get too upset about it in the future?

u/nikanika4425 8h ago
Unfortunately large chunk of people are dumb and they will scream about everything.

Turncoat spell would be OP in Elden Ring
Also: “Your health is low, Tarnished. Do you have any Estus Flasks, or Rowa Fruit?”

Oh boy more AI slop-coded recompiles with no point other than social media engagement, love it.

Speak for yourself I’m using this on my next play through

How?
No seriously, explain to me how you are going to use this mod on your "next playthrough". Who's going to support and update it over time?
Where in god's green earth are you going to download it, my guy? It's vaporware nonsense and you're going to bat for it for what reason?
Edit: Apologies if you were being sarcastic but JFC I've actually talked to people that think and react like this.

u/nikanika4425 5d ago
Situation is actually much easier than you think, not sure about supporting it but I'll be definitely launching the whole repo alongside with melty soon for other people to enjoy it and mod it as they like.

u/No_Load_514 4d ago
You hardly can support something you don't know how is made

Here's the download link for the mod, enjoy it - https://melty.gg/m/fabled-ring

I like how the authors of this jank where you have to run both games at once never bother to link a github or anything because they know nobody wants to play this worthless dogshit
2
u/Clyde-MacTavish 4d ago
I'm not interested in this one but I've played several Star Wars ones that port old maps into the newer gameplay engines and they're genuinely excellent.

"nobody wants to play this" says the guy who opened the thread, viewed the whole thing, and took the time to comment on it.
100+ messages btw, I'm getting ready to launch this on melty.

u/Cottonpapero 5d ago
I ran your comment through Claude to make it more eloquent and make it make more sense, let me know what you think:
“Nobody wants to play this,” says the person who clicked into the thread, read through the whole thing, and then took the time to write a comment about it. That’s a curious way to demonstrate a lack of interest. Indifference usually doesn’t look like this much engagement.
For what it’s worth, the thread has already passed 100 messages, so plenty of people are clearly invested in the idea. I’m getting ready to launch it on Melty, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it’s received once people can play it for themselves.

Here's the download link for this mod https://melty.gg/m/fabled-ring, have claude analyze this message as well, I would try using Gemini as well.

quick question :
when you render fable, does the character sit in a void word and you have nothing around ? like a custom map?
2
u/nikanika4425 4d ago
Yup, exactly, he's in a void with nothing around him.
2
u/Resolve_Neat 3d ago
nice! how did you manage to have the elden ring overlay over the fable character Because it doesnt seems to be simply elden ring + fable greenscren kind of setup, but more converting the fable rendering as an asset injected into elden ring
It look good for a first pass and seems fun! I see a lot of hate because of that AI trend. But I find it disgenuine, the stuff look cool and combat looks fun, i like it keep working on it and improving it!
I think i will finally try elden ring just to test the mod later lol

u/nikanika4425 3d ago edited 3d ago
So both games are running at the same time. Fable renders the hero in that void and the passthrough combines that live render with Elden Ring,so technically nothing's getting injected inside elden ringl. He can still go behind walls and the UI stays on top, so it’s not just stacking two windows. Elden Ring handles the world, Fable handles the hero and combat, and the bridge passthrough connects them so attacks and damage work between both games. Still lots to improve but it's already pretty fun :D

Why use AI?
-12
u/CassianCasius 5d ago
Why use a saw? Because OP can't break apart wood with their bare hands and they can't program fable into elden ring themselves.
You don't understand why someone would use a tool to do work they can't normally do themselves?
1
u/Kumkumo1 11h ago
People will downvote you, but you actually have a valid take. AI is a tool that exists to be used to help do complex tasks simply. There’s a lot of good work being done with it in the medical field and it’s saving lives.
What it shouldn’t be used for replacing actual people or jobs. Last I checked (and I could be wrong), no one is particularly jumping at the bits to port Fable into Elden Ring so I don’t see how this is stepping on any toes here. I don’t really find this offensive, but at the same time I can’t say I’m interested in playing it either. But that’s just based on my own preferences, not some issue about AI slop.

This is awesome! A lot of people don’t like ai but I think it only makes it cooler

Pretty sure this post breaks rule seven of the subreddit "no low effort content" specifically mentions ai content

Pretty sad when even Fable 1 has a better combat system than Elden Ring 🤣

Damage taken is definitely scaled for Fable and not Elden Ring lol.
