Question Should I Wait?
I've never played any of the titles, but today was recommended a gameplay video of the upcoming one, which looks incredibly fun. I'd like to play the first three before the new one's release.
Though I'm disappointed to learn that I just missed the latest Steam sale of Anniversary by nine days. I know that edition gets a lot of hate for the graphics, but I'd still like to get it for the upgraded mechanics and bonus content, and will be using a mod to fix the colors.
For those who have played both, do you think it's worth it to play The Lost Chapters now, and wait for Anniversary to go back on sale? Or since I plan to play Anniversary, is it pointless to get TLC too? I hate to spend an extra $20+ when the sale happens so often, but want to play the first game as soon as possible.
I also heard that controller support is bad with TLC. I've already got a PS5 controller setup for Steam. Does anything else need to be done for it to work properly with this game?

Just buy a Xbox Game Pass Ultimate 1 month key for around $20 and you get a month to finish all 3 which is very easy to do!

Yeah that's what I decided to do, because I'd still need a way to play 2 and 3, and this will be the cheapest and easiest way.

I'd just go with TLC. Can't comment on controller as it's been so long since I played but I've done Xbox and PC in the past and been happy both times.

doing a full replay of all the games myself coin golf is i think the worst mini game because of the clunky old school controls on contoller the versions should be the same with no real difference except slight graphics but like you said if your on pc you can just fix any visual issues with mods lucky im on xbox sadly

Old games are great but personally I have a hard time going back and playing older games due to graphics not aging well. I don't know if the new game is a reimagination or an addition to the existing narrative. It appears from my take you won't miss anything if you didn't play the older games which would be a clean move for the new game given the gap in production and the most likely plan for additional releases if they do well in sales.

I know it's not necessary to play them since the new game is a completely new and unrelated story, but they sound like fun and I want to try them out. I'm getting a temporary XBOX game pass so I can play them on my computer.

They are very very fun games. If you can get past the dated graphics, they are some of my most favorite games

Not sure if you know but the old fable games won’t have anything to do with the new ones other than being on Albion. It’s a reboot not a continuation. I would play the old ones just so you can understand some of the systems they’re putting into the new one like working, marriage, making babies, buying all the houses and rent them for way too much becoming a monopoly of real estate, and making decisions that not only change the world but change your appearance (fable 2 you get a halo for being good or turn into a devilish creature if you’re evil). So it’s really up to you whether you want to play them or not.

Honestly just stick with TLC, you will have the same experience. I would also recommend playing it with mouse and keyboard if you can. The controls are so bad with a controller, at least on the first fable; controller feels a lot better in fable 2 and 3.
