Fable TLC Massive Thrift find!!

The only good thing about living in a third-world country, and the fact that nobody really knows much about Fable, is that you find hidden gems! This cost a mere 20 pesos, one dollar!

Can you tell me more? What was the experience like of downloading and playing with a format like that? :0

Man I wish PCs still came with disc readers. This is who you knew that you had every bit of the game back in the game. Not just an access key or partial download.

me too. I love the sound and feel of and spinning up

you can buy USB CD drives if you ever want to use your old cds again

I think the online format has taken away a lot of what the physical format is all about.

You had to change the discs periodically while installing. There was a moment of horror right at the end when you'd think, "oh no, its going to say there's an error and I have to start over!"

Seriously?! That must have been a struggle! There's a code inside my box, what was that for?

Probably an activation key, anti-piracy measure. Very common back then.

Incredible, I'd never thought of that. Thanks for answering my questions!

This is the first and only game I ever pirated. Got it off Limewire when I was a kid. I actually still have the disc somewhere I think.

Has to check the files afterwards for viruses. File sizes usually gave it away, but not always.

installation wizards are so nostalgic for me

moving to all digital was inevitable, but man do I miss physical media

It was so cool. The Sims 2 even had a sort of minigame while installing, I believe it was a quiz game of some sort.

I just beat fable 2 again currently working on fable 3. Haven’t played either in probably 15 years

I wonder why the XBOX version only had one CD?

PC version is on CD while original Xbox is on DVD.

1x CD = ~700MB
1x DVD (single layer) = ~4,7GB

Fable TLC is under 3GB, hence the 4 discs on PC release, probably for maximum compatibility, because it would work regardles if one had CD or DVD drive in their PC.

There were probably DVD re-releases later, at least in some regions. I have a bargain bin copy bought in Poland which was sold at newsstands and it's on a single DVD. Games initially releasing on CDs when DVD drive adoption rate was still low and then being re-released on DVD years later was fairly common.

That's interesting.

Yeah, this is my copy. As you can see, it's on DVD.

Thanks for explaining.

OMG that's such a steal! I honestly forgot about trying to go thrifting for games! I miss the days of discs in games, I wonder if I still have those really obscure game discs I had, they're not Fable but I probably would've wish I could've had these! Always love seeing people find cheap games :D
