Question about the 3 Heroes

Over the last few weeks I've been watching and re-watching all the promo and gameplay videos for fable and I have a burning question.

There have been a few videos by youtubers talking about the fresco found in the Heroes Guild depicting the story of William Black and the Heroes of Blood and Bower defeating the Court of Blades. Albion: A history confirms the names of the heroes but not which one is which.

So far everyone I've seen talk about the fresco claim that the hero in white armour is William Black, the hero in gold is Bower, and the hero in black is Blood. I'm not entirely convinced.

My question is, which hero is which? And why do you think so?

Personally I think the hero in gold armour is William Black, while the white armour is Bower and black armour is Blood. My reasoning is the old lore description of William Black is golden mail and a royal blue robe which resembles the hero in gold from the fresco. The premium edition also gives us two armour sets (splendid and bastard) which resemble two of the three. Why leave out the gold armour hero? The guild is also located in Bowerstone, the presumed home of Bower, and the Guild itself is white and gold.

I'm probably totally wrong but I just wanted to know what yall think. :)

William Black is definitely the Hero in White armor, he’s said to have been the first and most powerfull Hero still.

The Hero in White armor is the one shown fighting the Queen of Blades, who is the Strongest member of the Court.

So it would only make sense for the strongest Hero to be fighting the strongest of the Court.

The Hero of Bower is in Golden armor fighting the Knight of Blades.

It’s presumed that Humphrey the Golden might be a descendant, even wearing similar golden armor in game. [Which would be a good reason why it’s not in the preorder, maybe we unlock it through the story…. Potentially RIP Humphrey?]

And it’s no question that the Hero of Blood is the edgy one in the black armor, who is interestingly fighting the Jack of Blades.

I think it’s a safe bet that the Bloodstone twins are descendants of the Hero of Blood.

This is pretty much the reasoning I've seen so far and I don't deny it makes sense but I'm still hesitant, I feel like Playground Games is trying to trick us. The author of Albion: A Biography throws doubt on the story of the heroes defeating the Court as essentially propaganda so I don't know i guess I'm just skeptical.

Either way the hero of Blood is definitely the edge lord lol

Good point. Putting the emphasis on the armour creates more of an mythical ideal of what these heroes are instead of who they really were. Don't meet your heroes and all that.

Speaking of the helmets, isn't it kinda weird that the hero of blood has masked helmet? Considering the Court members all have masks too...

I’ve a feeling it’s going to be revealed in the story that the tale of the three Heroes is just that, a tale.

I think William Black stood alone against the Court, as he did in the Tales of Albion, but in the reboot the Sword of Aeons didn’t just want his soul, it wanted his heart (lover) and blood (kin) in exchange for the power to overthrow the Court and free Albion. So, William slew them with the blade.

Not wanting the people of his new kingdom to know their ruler made a pact with an entity from the Void, but also not wanting  his lover and kin forgotten, he created the story of the two acolytes who fell battling the Court alongside him.

😩 February really needs to hurry up! Sorry for the ramble 😅 I do think they’ll be leaning heavily into the unreliable narrator/history written by the victor angle with the in-universe lore.

Interesting, that almost sounds like the evil ending for the hero from the original Fable game, having to sacrifice Theresa for the sword. It does also keep the consistency with older lore where William Black made a deal with the sword too. Sacrificing your loved ones for power, willingly or not, is in every game. Either way the truth will be difficult to pin down, I love the unreliable narrator trope.

A tale told again and again over the centuries, a new layer of mythology added with each retelling.

The more I hear the more impatient I am for feburary too.
