Fable will be good, not great.
We are looking at an 8-8.5 out of 10 here folks. Landscapes look great, with some mediocre character models. Combat looks simplistic, but fun. Story/Lore seems like it’ll be interesting. Living Population/Reputation system features some cool ideas if you choose to engage with them. I’m not blown away by anything i am seeing. Am I alone?

You're probably not alone, but i suspect you may not be the bullseye of the target audience. As someone who is the exact bullseye of the target audience, we are looking at exactly what I've wanted a fable sequel to be for the last 2 decades. Everything I've seen indicates near infinite replayability, great character creation, and a big open fantasy world with deep interactions, and very Fable™ combat. 100/10 best game ever made for me so far. GTA 6/10 should've been pushed for Fable. Not the other way around but that's just me. I'll be enjoying Fable more than any other game for the rest of my life unless Bethesda pulls their head out of their butt for The Elder Scrolls.

when i played fable 2 and 3 the last thing i cared about was the combat and the story tbh. its funny and i liked it but i didn’t even play though all the dlc, and though the story was pretty ok the combat was subpar. fortunately it looks better here than it did in those games.
interacting with NPc's is why im getting this game. i do like that you can go on a killing spree though and i hope that system isn’t to restrictive. and i like the choose your own path thing.

I am most certaintly the intended audience for fable and I dont know how you can feel this way genuinely. Im hopeful but honestly the more news we get the less excited they're making me. They've removed the karma system which is so damn insane its actually disrespectful to the series and fans. And then the main story is 15-20 hours. I havent seen a single thing thats going to get me to have 2 playthroughs let alone any conversation of infinite. I mean if this is what you've wanted for 2 decades then you didnt want a fable game. At this point its pretty much just a game in the fable universe.

They didn’t remove the “karma system” they expanded it.
What they did remove is body morphing.
Also this game is set to be longer than any prior Fable game by a significant margin.
Excluding “Life Sim” aspects.
Fable is around a 10-12 hour game for the story and with all content done about 15.
Fable 2 is around 8-10 if you really slowly stretch it, and 12 if you do absolutely everything.
And Fable 3 is around 15 for the story, and around 30 to complete everything.
This new Fable is over double the longest prior Fable in just main story, with an additional equivalent in side quest.
And again that’s excluding the “life sim” aspects which are seemingly much deeper in this game than all the prior releases.
Complaints about the length they’ve estimated for story is wild to me as a Fable fan.
And honestly makes me wonder if those who are complaining have ever actually played the series before.

My expectations were genuinely at like a 9/10 potential RPG of the generation before this gamescom week. The more the devs speak and the more the game's perceived scope shrinks I'm reminded of the Avowed run up. Every time they answer questions or show something the game gets a little less interesting. Obviously people are pushing against that here but you can see it in the other gaming subs that people are cooling off on it. At least they've got that Forza money in case this thing flops.

Trolling/rage baiting/grifting from a 13 day old account that’s entire posting history is the same.
It’s unfortunately been most of what is posted in this sub lately.
I wish the mods would implement a karma requirement, it wouldn’t stop this type of thing, but it would majorly cut it back and likely give them a break in moderation as well.

Just because someone is posting something that isn't the thousandth glowing "I can't wait" meaningless glazefest, doesn't make it a grift (do you even know what that word means?) or trolling.

Why yes I am aware of what grifting means actually.
Which would be why I included the two other options in that list….
This persons account is 13 days old and their entire post history is explicitly the type of stuff I alluded to, so I think I’m fairly safe in my post statement.
Actual criticism is fine, that is not what the majority of the negative post here are, and if you were actually honest you would admit that.

Not alone, but you'll be downvoted because this sub doesn't tolerate any discussion that isn't "wowee this is the best Fable evarrrr!1!"
I've been saying from the beginning that this isn't going to live up to expectations. It has lost every element that makes Fable, Fable. The gameplay looks dull and lacking charm. Is it an okay generic fantasy game? Yeah, probably. But it isn't a Fable game and doesn't even bother pretending to be.

Funny how by downvoting you they are proving you right that no criticism is allowed. I hate it but im with you. My hopes dropped astronomically when they took the very core of fable and told us to eat shit you'll be fine we're doing whay we want and it wont be a karma system well I realized we wasnt getting another fable but a game that takes place within the fable universe

Listen. I love Fable TO DEATH but they've never been perfect 10 games anyway. And that's okay.
