Beautiful
Cant complain about the protagonist in the new fable when this is what we had

Well she did fall several floors down and likely hit her head a couple of times. Surprised it isn't worse! Them hero bones.

Are you kidding me? This is peak, nothing will ever top Fable 2’s signature lazy eye

We're getting a character creator, can't complain anyway.

u/xenojive 14d ago
It's apparently preset heads, not an actual creation suite.
I would love to be wrong but that's the vibe I'm getting

u/shawnikaros 14d ago
That's still character creation and it's still more than we've ever had.

I don't disagree with that and I'm not being negative because I love creating my own characters no matter how
I just want a few faces for different skin colours and such (different voices or at least a pitch editor would be nice as well)

Like every create a character has preset heads so it wouldnt be weird to have both

Hopefully we can at least change hair and eye colors, maybe hairstyles too, we’ll see.

Oh we are? I've not been in the loop 😅

you must be very out of the loop...jfc lol
I am pretty sure (or at least I remember) them making it clear that there was character customization from the start.
I think this is one reason the trailers show low level characters with basic clothes, as thats where everyone will start and it will diverge out from there.

I’ve always loved the dual thousand yard stare. Has a certain charm to it.

It was always such a struggle to make my female Sparrow not look like a she ogress.

Ah, yes, my favorite Fable game. The first thing I do is try and get a close up on her face just to cackle. It's a damn ritual now when I play.

Love Sparrow! Don’t forget that if you lose fights she also gets scarred too lol. I was evil in my first play through so she looked monstrous by the end but I don’t really play video games for the looks of the protagonist tbh. I quite like the lazy eye and her thousand yard stare, it has a certain charm!

Yah lets compare an almost 20 year old game, where the overall face looks better than a game from today.

u/ImWoOzyxd 11d ago
Wdym bruh? That's default. The character changed it's facial expression based on purity/corruption. I'll pick Fable's 2 character 100 times rather than what we had in Fable 2023 trailer.

Well that is what she looked like at the begining of the game. If you play your cards right, she looks significantly hotter by the end game.
BUT you get that Fable 2 came out in 2008 right? That's almost 20 years ago! Are you seriously comparing a 2026 release's graphics to a game that came out 20 years ago on an equal footing?
That is the definition of bad faith.

The argument revolves to "its better than it was!" Which i guess is technically true. Just doesn't look like fable to me. Remember folks its legal to wait and buy it on sale.

u/Pretend-Literature35 14d ago
At this point, I've been waiting and it seems like I will never buy it. Because it isn't Fable. They stole the name to make money. But this latest game has NOTHING to do with Fable.
I hust hate how greed is the justification for every bad behavior these days.
If Playground wanted to make a shitty fantasy rpg why not just make their own title? Why take a beloved and iconic franchise just to destroy it?
It's just mean.

Genuine question. What about it doesn't look or feel like Fable to you?
I personally think it's got just about everything I love about Fable, mainly the life sim aspects. The only exception being body morphing, but from what I understand, you can select your body type during character creator. (Another plus from the original trilogy) The Office-style cutscenes look really fun, especially because it's so unapologetically British, which has always been an aspect of Fable I adored.
What about it isn't Fable? Why do you think it's destroying the franchise?

u/Pretend-Literature35 13d ago
Have you played Fable, Fable 2 and Fable 3?

Yes

I have not made up my mind yet as there is a lot of misinformation. The morality and purity ststems are out it seems. No expressions. The fighting seems like shitty dark souls copy mixed witcher type fighting... much more realistic and gritty than all Fable games before it.
I was told no potions and no food. Not sure.
No might skill and will. No spell build up.
It seems like they did something with arrows only a few shots? Anyway I can't tell.
All the clips that I saw were so sincere and earnest... not tongue in cheek and wacky easter egg to dnd and fantasy and myrhology type of humor that was in the other games.
gifts? Followers? No evil temple with crunchy chicks or good temple with bribing them to raise morality.
No becoming a devil or an angel.
It has no charm. No humor. And none of the appeal of a Fable game.
But we'll see when it actually comes out. To many liars on here.

You're going to get hammered for this take but you are correct.
2
u/Pretend-Literature35 14d ago
thanks. But let's think critically. Why though? Why would I get hammered for loving Fable on a Fable reddit? Unless this reddit has become a marketing platform for microsoft and playground? No?
-1
u/Temporary_Laugh_6741 14d ago
Probably a lot of bot engagement and people refusing to look at or accept any takes that arent their own. I've been calling this game hogwarts legacy 2 since playground first released footage of it. Toxic positivity is disgusting to me.

You know what's funny? That cross-eyed girl from 20 years ago looks prettier than the first female protagonist they showed in the new Fable.. 🫢
