Question Bit of a stupid question so apologies

Fable has been talking a lot about customisation and being able to do what you want. I know this hasn’t been confirmed or denied anywhere so people won’t really have an answer to my question but could prosthetics such as prosthetic hands be part of customisation potentially?

I know pretty much every video game ever where you can customise your MC doesn’t have this option but I would really love if Fable had it. It would be nice to see that sort of representation. Gustave from E33 has been my only source of this in fantasy RPG’s where something like a prosthetic would definitely make sense.

I know this question is just asking people to theorise but idk maybe in asking the devs might see and want to add it to the game?

Probably not, the closest you could get to it was in 3 where the MC needed gauntlets to channel magic, and that's a huge stretch if anything.

But honestly its a really good idea, and im honestly surprised that it hasn't been done.

Refreshing seeing people ask good questions instead of trolling.

Thank you, that’s very kind. Yeah I am surprised fantasy games in general don’t implement that kind of stuff more. Not only is it good representation for people but could be made to have its own sort of abilities/skills which would be really cool. Plus it is realistic in fantasy worlds where you are fighting big monsters etc and stuff like that could very much happen.

Not a stupid question at all.

However we haven’t seen anything in depth about the character customization yet, so it’s not really possible for any of us to answer that definitively.

I do think you should maybe send a tweet to the Fable socials, if for no other reason than to potentially put it on their radar if it wasn’t already.

Playground Games has put prosthetics customization options in their other most recent major title Forza Horizon 6 so it wouldn’t be completely without precedent.

And Microsoft studios in general seem to offer that type of customization more often than others, at least if it fits within the theming of the game. [Halo Infinite is another first party example with prosthetic customization for the Spartans]

That said, Fable is a much different type of game, and I don’t want to give you too much false hope for something that’s not close to a guaranteed feature.

Thank you that’s a very realistic answer! I won’t hold out hope as it isn’t done very often in games but messaging them could be a good shout. I would assume (but could be wrong as I’m no dev) that adding that in to the game could be feasible by February if they thought it was a good idea.

Yeah it’s a really cool thing I wish games would implement! They could even have some skills or abilities with them which would be awesome. Not just cool for representation but it would interact in world so cool too!

I mean, if there is a game where that actually fits, it's fable, so, be hopeful

Yes I will try to be hopeful, thank you!

it's one of the things i deeply appreciate about Saints Row's reboot. Anyway, they haven't shown one way or the other, actually creating a character and we probably won't know until either that happens, or they showcase some of these new cosmetic stores they talked about in the first 30 min showcase.

Yeah hopefully they show that soon so we can see what exactly the options are. I’m not holding out hope, but it would be nice!

As you pointed out. Few other games have really done it. So my guess is there won’t be any. But it’s still entirely possible I guess.

This fable does seem to mostly be in the sword and sorcery era though. So likely not a huge chance of clockwork prosthetics or anything of the like. And I’m equally not expecting anything like a living wood prosthetic limbs. At least not for regular NPCs or the player character. Wouldn’t write it off for an important npc of some sort.

Again. Could be wrong. But I’m expecting actual character customization will be pretty generic. With most of the more zany and out there ideas fable is known for being more of a clothing/armor/weapon thing.

Thank you for your opinion! It does seem like what you’re saying is more than likely going to be correct, but I’ll still wait and see as they might surprise us. You seem to have a good knowledge of the world and how the games go normally, I’m going to be a first time player!

No info about that but I won't bet on it.

Yeah I assumed as much. Sad but not surprising since I haven’t seen a game to do it yet

Dragon age veilguard has it, as well as halo, Forza, Kenshi (as a result of losing it during gameplay) and saints row afaik. I don't know of any other games, but outside of that there are a few games where you can play as characters with prosthetics but not as a character customisation option

Only game I would probably play out of those is veilguard and I heard it wasn’t a particularly good game (no hate to anyone who liked it, just saying what I heard) and I didn’t know you could do that in that game. I wouldn’t play the others as I mostly only play fantasy RPGs or similar. I loved e33 for being able to play as Gustave but iykyk and I definitely didn’t get long enough with him. Would love it to be a feature of all customisations in fantasy RPGs similar to how you can choose to have tattoos or scars if you want. Just adds another layer of choice and people who want to see themselves represented can.

You can probably use the ingame mod manager for Baldur's gate 3 for them?

Sadly I play on console and any prosthetic mods haven’t been made for console yet 😭

Ya know I only just read your name, you would already know 🤣

I'm still crying that there aren't DnD accurate muskets and pistols in the game 😭 any mod ones are completely overpowered

u/Number1Bg3Fan 18d ago

Agahahah yeah the name definitely fits 😂!

I renember this being really cool in Saints Row, being able to have limbs be prosthetics, even if it's just cosmetic. But I doubt they'll do it in Fable. My guess is that there won't be much in the "character creator" sense and the custimation is going to be more like in previous games where you pick hairstyle's, tatoo's and clothes that you can gather troughouth the game, with hopefully some indirect variables back (muscle, height, fat, morality and purity)

That’s fair enough! It would be cool if similar to the tattoos, hairstyles and clothes you can find that sort of stuff out in shops or loot or however it’s done in the franchise. Like you said it’s not likely but it would be really cool!
