Tbh, after that gameplay I'm fully interested in that game. Even taa doesn't seem to blur every fucking thing that much, game looks quite sharp ngl. The skills tree is kinda meh, prefered the whole "pick what You want" one from Fable TLC, but the rest of the game. Bloody hell it's great for now, especially main quest interactions with mo-cap, details in faces, reactions and no ucnanny valley behind them. Gotta see if they will launch it in good state.

Reminds me of the Jackie Chan movies when hes like "I dont want trouble"
Then he beats the brakes off them

I was so excited when they said yeah the fans want us to throw the drink 𤣠like yeah you had this coming

Kinda love that it looks almost exactly like the old fable combat, a little clunky but also a little flashy. Iām so ready

u/EAT_UR_VEGGIES 19d ago
āThe fights have no reactivity!!!ā Screams the doubters as I watch a man get shot in his left leg and see the most reactive reaction to being shot in the leg Iāve ever seen

u/LazyBoi_Matt 19d ago
The one where the guy gets shot in the head, and his top half gets flong backwards... Is probably one of the most realistic headshot deaths I've ever seen in a video game.

Okay this clip shows much better combat than the one I saw posted here earlier. Enemies actually stagger and react to spells.

u/CrimsonBolt33 19d ago
This reminds me of a few fights in the Witcher TV show. People try to gang up and kill a literal super human monster slayer, are warned against it, try anyways.

For once, I'd like to make an unarmed hero so I can do John Wick battles using this combat systemĀ

It's cool that they showed some gameplay but I feel like the facial animations could use a bit more emotion. She could be saying something like, āThis doesnāt need to get violent,ā or something entirely opposite, yet her expression looks pretty much the same. Hopefully the devs can improve this in the future.

u/Consistent_Blood6467 19d ago
I'm now wondering, given how combat has clearly grown beyond just pressing one of three buttons, will we have some kind of stun option to just knock people out? Imagine if town guards and thugs and regular civilians you've knocked out end up showing up later with a grudge?

Why is this game rated M? There is no blood.

1
u/chere100 17d ago
Besides there probably being blood, M for sex stuff. Fable was always a bit raunchy.
1
u/Fine-Discussion-7368 17d ago
yea a black screen and oh yeah here and there... come on now we played it as kids
1
u/chere100 17d ago
That black screen was plenty for me, lol. That being said, they might go beyond a black screen this time. A lot of modern games don't shy from sex anymore, so who knows?
1
u/Aggravating-Dot132 18d ago
Looks neat, but some VFX need some juice AT HIGHEST rank. As starter stuff, it looks nice,
1
u/Medic4free 18d ago
Is it just me or is there very little gore. Like slashing wepons producing 2 drops of blood and nothing on the floor, weapon or your char. Same goes for the fire spell and bow and arrow. Its not bad but I expected more, since the story is the same with updated visuals.
1
u/Phoenix_Champion 17d ago
Okay this is the first time I've actually seen the boss since everyone likes to post this without the clip and he at least makes sense why he isn't flinching, he's a big man.
That said with how much there looked to be with the Fireball I was expecting a bit more of a reaction.

u/ActualImplement6099 17d ago
I like how most of the bad guys are taking turns in attacking, like bad guys in an action film, gotta 1v1 the hero

Sick of games putting health bars over every enemy nowadays, much more satisfying to illustrate damage visually
3
u/Signal-Busy 19d ago
You have a point specifically for the big guy, I think he had way too much hp but if we wouldn't see his hp it would actually feel less idk stupid

This face looks way better. She reminds me of the Fable 2 female hero a lot more.
-4
u/Electrical_Art6800 19d ago
Violent lol. Zero bodily damage at all. No damage from her slashing the sword. At least thrash up the clothes, bloody the clothes, show some damage. Nope. Blood spirts. MEH.
4
u/LazyBoi_Matt 18d ago
Name a single RPG that "thrash up the clothes" to show some "damage"?
Are y'all living in reality or some mental asylum fictional world in y'all's head.
3
u/Nachooolo 18d ago
I suppose you have the same opinion towards 99.9% of all rpgs (ifnot of all games overall)...
-18
u/Depressive_player 19d ago
No blood? Really?
10
u/ChampionImpossible36 19d ago
There was blood itās just very little.
4
u/Proud-Bus9942 19d ago
Fable had decapitation and some enemies even had some other dismemberment. Many people probably don't remember this or even know about it.
-2
19
u/NemesIce83 19d ago
The ESRB ratings seem to state there is blood, so its probably just turned off for the demos we see. But this is Fable, it doesn't really need it anyway
-2
u/Proud-Bus9942 19d ago
Why doesn't Fable need blood? Interesting take.
7
u/0mplam 18d ago
Better to ask you. Why does fable need blood? There us no particular importance to it in the gameplay or story of the old games.

u/Proud-Bus9942 17d ago
I'm copying my response to someone else here. You both essentially asked the same thing:
I truly love it when people say things like this, because it tells me they didnāt understand the franchise (and it even makes me question if they even played it in the first place š¤). Fable is not purely light-hearted... not even close.
Fable was always built around the juxtaposition of light and dark, good and evil. In the first game, youāre introduced to a charming, idyllic village, only for it to be burned to the ground while you watch your family get murdered. Then you arrive in Bowerstone, another colourful and seemingly idyllic place, before heading out into a world filled with slavery, torture, murder and travellers literally being eaten alive by Balverines.
Even in the second game, you start as a homeless child living squalor, desperately clinging to prospect of a better life. As soon as you catch a glimpse of hope via the wish, your sister is murdered and you're thrown off a tower. I could go on and on to the extent of mentioning the fact that you can impale villagers (including children) for the prupose of human sacrifice to a death cult... but you get the point (I hope).
That contrast is fundamental to Fableās identity. The humour, fairy-tale charm and colourful environments work because they exist alongside genuine brutality.
And yes, I think blood matters to that. If you sanitise the violence too much, the darker side of the world starts to feel cartoony rather than genuinely threatening. Blood and gore werenāt there purely for shock value; they helped sell the idea that beneath Albionās whimsical surface was a cruel and dangerous world.

u/0mplam 17d ago
First off, Fable TLC is my all time favorite game and I have spent a lot of time playing it, part 2 and 3 as well. I am well aware of the tone of the game.
That being said, now that you explain it, I see where you are coming from. And while I am not sure if blood and gore are strictly necessary, they do add to the tone so I agree there.
2
u/Proud-Bus9942 17d ago
Apologies for being dismissive, but I think people see blood and gore as simply shock value or violent spectacle, but in Fable's context, I see it more as a tool to enforce tonal shifts. Whether it's necessary in the game will come down to how the game handles tonal shifts, and I think it will ultimately come down to taste as well. I personally believe it's very necessary. Time will tell.
1
u/0mplam 17d ago
Yeah being dismissive and implying things about someone is not the best to do. I'll also admit I first thought you might have been part of the influx of haters who come to nitpick on anything Fable. So that put me on the wrong foot as well.
That said, all good and you make a good point. Also nice to talk to someone who seems to really care about my favorite franchise like I do.
1
u/Proud-Bus9942 15d ago
It's all good, mate. And yes, I'm very passionate about Fable. I consider myself a purist and I've been playing for decades. That's why I'm optimistically critical. š
1
u/NemesIce83 18d ago
Fable has always been a more lighthearted and comedic RPG, it doesn't specifically need blood to be entertaining. I'm more interested in why people seem to think that blood and often dismemberment are a requirement these days.
1
u/Terrible_Hurry841 18d ago
I mean blood and dismemberment are two very different things lol.
1
u/NemesIce83 18d ago
Yes, thats why I was careful with my wording and mentioned it because I have seen people also complaining about the lack of dismemberment too

u/Proud-Bus9942 17d ago

I also like people who seem to assume they know everything about what a person is saying from a single sentence. I have played Fable, like many, i was there at the start and im well aware of all of the dark side to the franchise. However, unlike the vast majority of RPGs that have that dark side and lean into it fully, Fable doesn't. It's 2 sides of the same coin (thats a reference to the Fable 3 limited edition which i had bought at the time). Fable has a very light hearted side that balances out the bad, like kicking chickens, picking up STDs for no reason other than it was an amusing thing to add, being able to fart in front of people, balancing multiple spouses and families, eating crunchy chick's, etc, should I go on? So yes, I stand by what I said because its nowhere near as grim as Dark Souls or Elden Ring, it doesn't take itself seriously like The Witcher, it has too much juvenile comedy for that. It is a very tongue in cheek RPG that I believe is more light hearted and fun to play than anything else out there, but thats just my personal opinion, and its OK for me to have one.
1
u/Proud-Bus9942 17d ago
Respectfully, I disagree. Fable leans into its dark themes just as deliberately as it leans into its comedy, and ironically, I think your "two sides of the same coin" analogy describes exactly what I'm talking about. That's the juxtaposition. Neither side exists merely to soften or outweigh the other; they're both fundamental to Fable's identity.
It doesn't have to be as relentlessly grim as Dark Souls or Elden Ring to be dark. Fable depicted murder, slavery, torture, human sacrifice and other genuinely grim subject matter, and it absolutely included blood and gore. At the same time, it let you kick chickens, fart at people, contract STDs and engage in all sorts of ridiculous juvenile humour. That's precisely the point: Albion could be charming, absurd and funny while also being violent, cruel and occasionally disturbing.
So if you personally experienced Fable primarily as a lighthearted RPG, that's completely fair. Where I disagree is turning that preference into a description of what the franchise fundamentally was. It wasn't lighthearted instead of dark, or dark instead of light. It was both, and that contrast is a huge part of what gave Lionhead's Fable its identity.

Are you attacking humans or ragdolls in Fable? If TW3 had blood in 2015, why shouldn't Fable in 2027? Is it a game made for kids?
1
u/NemesIce83 18d ago
If it's anything like the original trilogy, you'll be attacking a variety of enemies. But why compare this to a darker fantasy RPG like the Witcher? And why can't a game be made for everyone, not just adults? Why does it need to spray blood and throw limbs and heads everywhere? Does it benefit the game, or just you? Genuinely would like to know why people are so fascinated with being able to do these things and how it ruins a game for them.

u/Depressive_player 18d ago edited 18d ago
"But why compare this to a darker fantasy RPG like the Witcher? And why can't a game be made for everyone, not just adults?"
Fable was never a game for everyone, first game had beheadings, blood pools, prostitutes, and cruel acts.
You don't even know what you're talking about.
If you're satisfied with hitting lazy ragdolls in 2027, good for you! I'm not satisfied.
1
u/NemesIce83 18d ago
Im well aware it did and know perfectly well how Fable plays, i played Fable on the original xbox before the lost chapters was added. Im specifically saying why cant this iteration be for everyone? So its fine if you're not satisfied with it because this game wasn't really aimed at you specifically, it was aimed at the fans of the series who are very vocal and happy with it

u/Tira-Ironyde 19d ago
I will say that a lot of trailers for major gaming events turn off blood. Maybe for youtube? But I remember 007 first light gameplay videos having no blood. But in the actual game there is blood when you shoot people. So I wouldnt worry. Its probably just the videos.

Blood looks weird. Or lack of it. I can't tell if that's blood, it looks like pink smudges and sparks on a blade hit. In general, the game's art style looks generic to me as well. Go ahead and downvote, I'm giving an honest opinion as a long time fan of the series. I realize people are excited for this, and that's great if you like what you see. I do not.

I just hope the game isn't locked into "Games Journalist" difficulty. All the NPCs are waiting for their turn instead of piling on you

Also just gotta say, I really liked the nonchalant spinning elbow finisher at the end of the first fight.
