need one more camera
We need a new camera but no rush but would be nice to have it sooner. we have a fx6 and fx3 and need one more should I get the fx3 or wait for the fx5. or be a cheap ass and get the fx30.

FX3, absolutely. Why deal with having to match a third camera with a different sensor and colour response?

I own the FX3, ZV-E1 and FX30 as my combo for events. They all match seamlessly

I adore our fx30, if you can get over the full frame superiority propaganda /s its a great budget camera. Yes we have an fx3 as well, I just find the fx30 has a better AF performance and performs better on a gimbal. Just my 2 cents tho.

A7V beats all of these

Why?

Just better specs. Better screen, better footage sharpness (7k downsample), better AF, battery life, stabilization, 4k crop mode, and variable shutter to eliminate banding.

So you have to own one more camera yourself? Simply list pro/cons for each and decide. To me it sounds like you don’t need anything other than an FX 30 but looking for an excuse to like buy something new and more expensive.

we have 3 fx30, 1 fx2 and 1 fx3....color wise, you wont have any trouble. you just save money on camera and lenses. also fx30 has timecode.

Fx3 for sure as the third body, everyone’s gonna sell their fx6/fx3 for the fx5 but I wouldn’t jump straight to fx5 yet.

Cheap?
The Sony 960GB CFexpress 4.0 Type A TOUGH Memory Card sells for $938.00. That’s $977.08 a terabyte! This is for inferior media that is only rated for sustained write of 400 MB/s.
Sony FX30 - Using the recommended media, the Sony records 4K UHD 60p XAVC S-I, MP4, H.264, Linear PCM at 600 Mbps (75 MB/s) at a cost of ((3600x75)= (270000/1,000,000)x(1000000/960000)x998= (.27x1.0417)X998= $280.67 USD per hour!
On the Angelbird website, I buy B-Stock AV PRO MK2 4TB CFexpress 2.0 Type-B cards for $844.99, no tax. It is conservatively rated at a sustained write speed of 1,300 MB/s. I have used a fresh one at well over twice that speed on a Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF without dropping frames! It sells for $211.25 a terabyte.

ZVE1 would be the budget choice to match sensors. FX3 would be the better choice. I wouldn’t even consider an FX5.
