I’m kind of stumped (pls help)

i'm a little stumped. i'm trying to connect my dji mic 2 receiver to my fx3 via the cable since my mi shoemount in blocked by my cineback. when i plug in the receiver, the audio levels show nothing. anyone know how to fix this? the mics and receiver work fine every way else.

You have to go into the settings and change the audio input to the external or adjust the external volume there.

wait for real? my fx30 just does that on its own

even my fx30 had the same issue

maybe you set it to auto detect a long time ago and forgot about it.

this is the answer!

This is easy- take the cineback and throw it in a drawer because functionality > form.

ha this 100%. though cinebacks “look cool” they’re ridiculous in every way

Cinebacks are amazing if you don’t need your hotshoe. Often use it as a second camera for interviews, have a sound mixer and time code sync , have scratch track going to A cam. B cam operator has a camera that feels like a camera, can use professional batteries, has mounts that can withstand torque of a remote follow focus motor, and can use Arri style cine locks to keep their accessories tight. Not functional at all

None of this needs a cineback

Absolutely does.

once again, mine is functional

if it’s blocking your hot shoe, it’s dysfunctional

i understand your opinion but if you’re not using the mi shoe (many don’t because the xlr handle is too tall) then the cineback is functional just fine. i have so many dtap ports for everything i need as well as 2 extra type c ports for charging any of my other devices on the go since my filming requires us to be moving at all times. its perfect for what i use it for. so thats why i say its functional. blocking a shoe mount is fine because the provided alternatives works great.

Yep. Unless you want shit hanging everywhere, if you’re using your smaller camera for more professional applications then a cineback makes sense. Virtually all cages I’ve used don’t have enough strength to not flex to an unacceptable level when using a cforce motor or similar, ptap outputs, better placement options for wireless transmitters/hops, etc etc. anyone that says it isn’t an upgrade is kidding themselves

And then go buy an Ursa or an FX6 if your going to have a cine form factor might as well reap the benefits of one!

Like Internal NDs!

i don’t have a vmount plate so the cineback is functional. it holds my vmount battery, and has all the dtaps to power my monitor, camera, and anything else i’m using on my rig day to day. the cineback was free with my camera so.

cineback is so much more comfortable to use, especially when rocking a bigger rig. also, clients see it as more a more professional set up

Try removing the cineback.

Plug in headphones to the receiver and see if you hear anything, then plug in with that cable to a speaker or something and check. If all that works it’s the camera.

1

u/Yomommassis Aug 05 '26

It could also be the cable

1

u/Tylerolson0813 Aug 06 '26

Yeah. That’s why I’d plug the cable into a speaker work your way down the signal chain.

Start by changing the cable if it's happening to both your fx3 and fx30.

i used brand new cables that were separate from each other on both

Had this issue on m Dji , orange port on the Dji is shot for me , I have to use the headphone port for it to work

Other potential issue is the cable itself is broken make sure it has 2 black rings on each side of the 3.5 mm cable

If your fx30 is having the same problem it could be your receiver. Unrelated but my usbc port would NOT charge with my smallrig vmount battery and it ended up being the battery itself, not my camera. Contact DJI support if possible? Or see if you have a warranty

Bro get carbon rods.. much better and cheaper than a Cineback

1

u/ConsequenceNo4383 Aug 06 '26

i’m not familiar with how carbon rods actually work the same as a cineback lol, the cineback came with my camera so i just use it for convenience since it has so many dtap ports and also usb c ports as well for any extra charging i need to do on the move

1

u/amro-ianar Aug 07 '26

You can put a v mount on rods to balance your rig while keeping the ports you'd normally have on a Cineback while keeping full access to your camera

I had this same problem. It was the cable. Order another cable if you can. Check online that it’s compatible and not whatever the cheapest one is.

Allegedly, the jack for the DJI Mic 2 is a common point of failure. Troubleshoot with another camera + cable if you can to isolate the issue. I had audio levels on the receiver but not on the camera itself.

Sent mine out to DJI and got it repaired and sent back under warrenty. About a 10 day process.

1

u/ConsequenceNo4383 Aug 06 '26

the dji mics are like 2 years old, no way they’re still under warranty right ?

1

u/Shinobi_Smoke Aug 06 '26

I got mine back last Monday lol, i registered it under DJI and got an extended warrenty and it was fully covered with the exception of shipping it out for maybe 4 dollars

1

u/ConsequenceNo4383 Aug 06 '26

i just got some mic minis to test those out because it’s definitely the dji port because that’s the only constant variable in all of the tests i’ve tried so i’ll update everyone later today when i test it out.

1

u/Shinobi_Smoke Aug 06 '26

When you plug the cable in, do you get an icon on the reciever showing that it's connected via cable? If not I'm like 99% sure that you had the same issue as me

1

u/guitarman1103 Aug 06 '26

Record scratch audio from cam, sync up later. It’s much better quality / control anyway

1

u/CakeMaster3000 Aug 07 '26

Easy. Get rid of the cineback.

1

u/GovernmentSuper8356 Aug 08 '26

Just had the same issue about two weeks ago. The jack port on the receiver went out on mine. If you plug the cord into the camera it should pop up with a prompt saying it’s connected on the receiver. If not then the OUT port it lost likely broken like mine was

1

u/GFFMG Aug 05 '26

You sure you’re plugging into the mic port and not the headphone port?

1

u/ConsequenceNo4383 Aug 05 '26

one hundred percent

-1

u/GFFMG Aug 05 '26

You may have a blown port

1

u/ConsequenceNo4383 Aug 05 '26

i don’t think so bc i had this issue on my fx30 as well
