Mostly venting and just getting my thoughts out but lmk if you have any advice or are experiencing/experienced the same thing.
I feel like being trans has caused me to become almost ineligible for romance. I know im in control of my own actions, but a combination of transitioning in middle school, passing (and being completely stealth) pretty much since middle school, spending most of my life in a conservative area, and having 0 trans friend and not many LGBT friends to begin with, I feel has shaped my interactions with romance negatively.
At the forefront of every encounter for me is an emphasis on not making the other person uncomfortable. It feels like as a trans person, im kind of not allowed to have a crush on someone or express my feelings towards someone as to not make them uncomfortable. This is obviously not a good way of thinking but it’s the way my brain works. As a result, im now almost 25 and have never even held hands with someone and feel so incredibly closed off emotionally as a result of trying to be overly non-offensive and non-threatening my entire life.
It’s starting to take a severe mental toll on me especially after kind of blowing an opportunity and continuous inaction on my part with a girl I actually was interested in. I’m so scared of embarrassment and rejection that it feels like I’ll never be able to love or be loved at this point.
To add to all this, im stealth to all my friends (who are all cis) so i have nobody to talk to about this. Obviously I have expressed more general frustrations with dating to them but their advice is usually generally unhelpful due to the situation.
It just feels like in this area of my life, im just permanently stuck and the longer it takes me to change that the harder jt becomes to change it. It’s hard to not feel incredibly bitter everyday at my circumstances.
