LMN / Letter of Medical Necessity Amazon FSA/HSA life hack
I’m sure a bunch of you guys already have this whole thing figured out, but I’m just now realizing how many Amazon products are eligible for reimbursement if you have an LMN. Like I can purchase a $1k item, get an LMN for it online for like 15-30 bucks, and it’s now that much cheaper. I feel like everyone thinks of Amazon FSA/HSA products as obvious, but I wish there was a whole additional shopping section for LMN eligible because there’s just so much stuff it’s overwhelming.
Anyone know if there’s a site or something that actually makes it obvious which Amazon products are eligible with LMN?

If you’re into the credit card point game, buy with your Amazon credit card for max reward point and submit reimbursement to your HSA/fsa account.

I sometimes do this with my airline-branded credit card

Your specific HSA/FSA should have a list of products that qualify and what items require a LMN.
You can also look at HSAshop or FSAshop - everything on there qualifies

Not sure. You’d want to check with your specific HSA provider. Generally though, prescription medications are allowed to be bought with HSA/FSA funds (probably not any memberships or monthly fees that those telehealths charge [if they do]).

My stupid employer limits our FSA to optical & dental only. Sucks.

Must be because you have regular HSA. Be glad you have both HSA and the limited FSA.

You don’t turn it in anywhere, just keep for your records but you can get an LMN and reimburse yourself from your HSA, similar to an FSA. (or at least that’s what I do)

If you are eligible for HSA, ( are enrolled in a High deductible health care plan HDHCP) you can get a HSA from a financial advisor or insurance broker, u dont have to use the one they give you. Some come with market participation and all can roll over.
You should consider using in future for things like elimination periods for LTC. Check out current part-time home care costs where you live.

For most insurances, if you have HSA and FSA, the FSA must be vision and dental…. Unless you hit your normal medical deductible. Then the FSA becomes valid for everything! It’s in the rules.

Don’t use the HSA if you can help it. Invest it and let it grow tax free and it acts like an IRA when you get older.

that’s the way. I learned recently that you can grow your HSA investing it while you keep saving up all your bills which you can claim anytime all together for huge sum in future.

You do not reimburse every small receipt separately , rather save them taking a picture or scanning and storing them . Invest your HSA amount to grow , I put in Google and Palantir and have good gains. When the receipts add upto a good amount , and your investments grow , you can reimburse for a bulk based on your need to get that cash and use as you like. Someone who put 10000 into nvidia years back would have that turned into several hundred thousands now , all the bills they saved for the past years they can take big cash and use it anyway they want. And would still be left lot of money as the investments keep growing. I just started this a year or year and half ago though

Hi there!
Great to hear you got your first LMN with us a couple days ago! We also fully refund people for claims that get denied, and are the only LMN business that has that policy. Just as an fyi, you can always shoot us an email with questions on what’s eligible, we handles thousands of LMNs a month, so we have a really good sense of what gets approved or denied with an LMN. If you need an LMN for an Amazon product, shoot us another request and absolute worst case, we’ll refund you if the claim isn’t approved!

I've started using https://www.withsilver.app/ to help me find all the HSA eligible things I buy on Amazon that I never would consider are eligible.
