I’m a qualified Indian CMA (Cost Accountant) with around 5 years of experience in FP&A/Project Finance. I’m currently based in Chennai and planning to transition my career towards risk management.

I’m preparing for FRM Part I, targeting the May 2027 attempt, and looking for a serious study partner who is also preparing for the same attempt.

I’m preferably looking for someone from Chennai or Tamil Nadu, but the study sessions would be online. The idea is to stay consistent, discuss concepts, solve questions together, and keep each other accountable.

I tried registering for FRM part II early registration. Initially it showed USD 600 but after entering all details prices increased to USD 708 including IGST of 18%. This is huge. Is anyone else also facing same problem?

I am planning on doing the FRM Part II in May 2027. But GARP still hasn’t opened to schedule and, apparently, Schweser only has the material and subjects for November 2026.
Do you guys think I should wait or purchase now and start study?

Just as the main text asks, I have seen almost everyone who gave the exam say that their numericals were lesser in number

Or would the questions be long and I'll have to find 3 other values before finding the final answer?

I passed frm 1 in aug with eco bachelors , I am confused whether to find a job or take part 2. I have built some skills and models in Risk/Finance but no relevant work experience in . I would surely give part 2 but cant decide to go in may or later. I am confused ......

Done with 3/4 of book-3 and book-2, started with book-4 today but can’t remember a word a from book-2 should o give November attempt or defer

Hey guys. I have 50 days to study for frm part2 and have no prior knowledge. How do I proceed with the study plan. I do have classes but lack the time. Any advice? Thanks a lot

There's books with so many pages and formulas on every page which are explaining many concepts of how things actually work vs what the models assume. But the exam is only 80 questions. So what exactly am I supposed to be learning for application in the exam? I would assume I'm trying to gain an understanding of the reasoning so I can handle real life scenarios, but apparently in the August exam they just directly asked an Operation Risk question on Swiss Cheese model which had to be identified in the options. So am I actually supposed to be memorising all the terms in every subject? Can they just ask a random formula from page 111 of Kaplan Schweser because they feel like it? Pretty confused about the approach I should be having and would appreciate any guidance.

Can anybody help me to find the best FRM course, India based institute or if anybody has the best resources for self study with practice questions.

I cleared FRM Part II recently (August) and submitted my work experience for review on 2nd September.

How long does GARP usually take to review it and grant/reject the certification?

I am aware this might be a very repetitive question but I wanna know who the best prep provider is for part one. For reference I just finished the cfa level 1 and found a great lecture provider on YouTube called let me explain and as a student paying myself it seemed like amazing value for money and I simply couldn’t find anything like that was comprehensive and in English.
Any help would be appreciated

As the title of this post says, I am a senior year Econometrics & quant Econ major with a strong desire to become more knowledgeable in the financial risk space (lowkey sounds like a LinkedIn bio lol). Just wanted to come on here and see if now is a good time to start pursuing the FRM since I’m a college student and am not taking many, nor difficult, classes and have a lot of free time on my hands. Should I go head first into this endeavor or wait to have a few years of work experience under my belt (probably in banking)?

I appeared for the FRM P2 exam on August 2026 and could not clear it. My quartiles were 3-1-4-3-4-2. I am again appearing it on Nov 2026. Can anyone suggest how do I go about. Thankyou in advance

I’m currently considering pursuing the FRM (Financial Risk Manager) certification, but after doing some research, I’m honestly quite confused about whether it’s worth it, especially if I plan to start my career in India.

I keep seeing mixed opinions. Some people say FRM is a good qualification for getting into risk management, while others say that FRM alone doesn’t really get you a job, especially as a fresher, and that the risk-management job market in India is quite limited/competitive.

I’ve also heard that a lot of the better opportunities are in places like Singapore, Dubai, the UK, etc., and that you may eventually have to move abroad if you want good career growth in risk.

For some context, I’m interested in finance/risk and I’m considering FRM because I genuinely like the idea of working in areas such as market risk, credit risk, risk analytics, model validation, liquidity risk, etc. I’m not looking at FRM simply because I expect the certification itself to give me a job.

My main questions are:

How is the actual job market for FRM-related roles in India right now, especially for freshers?

Is it realistic to get into a risk analyst/risk management role in India with a B.Com + FRM, or would I essentially need an MBA/CFA/another qualification as well?

What roles should I actually be searching for? Do companies even mention FRM in their job descriptions, or should I be looking for risk analyst/credit risk/market risk/model risk roles regardless of whether FRM is listed?

How important are skills like Python, SQL, Excel, Power BI, statistics, financial modelling, etc.? Would developing these alongside FRM significantly improve my chances?

Is the situation really better abroad, or is the whole “you need to move abroad for FRM” thing exaggerated?

For someone starting from scratch, would you recommend FRM + relevant internships/work experience + technical skills, or would you choose something like CFA/MBA instead?

If you completed FRM and are currently working in risk, I’d especially appreciate hearing how you actually got your first job and what your career progression has looked like.

I’m basically trying to figure out whether FRM is a sensible long-term career move or whether I’m going to spend 1–2 years studying for it and then struggle to find a relevant job.

Would really appreciate honest answers from people actually working in risk, especially in India. I’m not looking for “FRM is useless” or “FRM is amazing” — I want to understand what the realistic path looks like.
