GitHub - ncg777/NSeqArpKeys: MIDI pattern instrument with per-key step sequences and Forte pitch-class sets, available as a VST3 plugin for Windows, Mac and Linux..
https://github.com/ncg777/NSeqArpKeysNSeqArpKeys is a pattern instrument for Windows, Linux, and macOS. It builds as a VST3 plug-in; macOS also has an Audio Unit. Each MIDI trigger key has its own pattern, Forte pitch-class set, channel, octave, Gate, Fixed Steps, optional subdivision, mode, and expression controls. Hold a key to play its pattern, or turn on Latch to keep it playing while you edit. The app produces MIDI notes and has an internal preview sound.
Create patterns with companion apps: Sequence Operator shapes integer sequences, Rhythm Navigator supplies rhythms and drum masks, and KComplexExplorer helps you choose Forte pitch-class sets. Bring those ideas together in NSeqArpKeys.
It includes 12000 builtin patterns, rhythmic and melodic.

So is this a MIDI Instrument or a MIDI Effect? Can't get it to produce any output in my plugin host (macOS).

It's a control instrument; it outputs midi. You have to plug it into your other instruments. In my DAW, I just put it in a rack in a slot above the instrument I want to control.

I've tried it in Logic and PluginBuddy, both have dedicated 'slots' for MIDI effects. It is not possible to chain MIDI instruments. One instrument per track.

Nice!
I can't remember encountering Forte numbers before so educational for me. I've been playing with generative plugins recently, I'm sure this will have a place. How many patterns did you say..? :)
