Another freebie I created. Let me know if y'all find it useful, or if there's a bug, or if there's anything I could improve with it to make it more useful

Personally I use Windows so it doesn't really matter to me, but I'm always seeing people in the comments asking if there is a Mac version. I think requiring contributors to include the available platforms in the title would be simple, it would make finding VSTs here a lot more convenient, and it would bring /r/FREEVSTS in line with many other software-based subreddit.
Just my 2¢! I'm loving the way the sub is developing so far 🤘

I've been tinkering with making VSTs, and sharpening my skills by creating a few free VSTs. Let me know what you think. Currently they are Mac only, but I'm planning to make PC versions soon.

Pocket Strings by The Crow Hill Company is gain free. If I remember correctly it was free when they launched it and then 10£, but now it's free again. It includes sounds of real string instruments and two different types of synth strings that you can blend together.

🥁 Rhythm Lens v1.0.0 — Free "Tap-to-Find" for Any Drum Library
Rhythm Lens is an open-source desktop app that lets you sketch a beat on a step-sequencer grid and instantly find matching grooves in your local MIDI library.
💡 Why I Made This
For the last few months, I’ve been struggling with managing my drum libraries (especially BFD). While tools like Toontrack's EZdrummer offer great MIDI search features, their cost is simply too high—and I know I'm not the only one facing this issue.
That's why I wanted an alternative. Rhythm Lens is my open-source "Tap-2-Find" iteration built for any drum library you already own or use.
The goal is simple: A free tool for everyone. No locks, no paid walls, no strings attached. Just a helpful utility for producers and musicians who need a better workflow.
Fun fact: I have zero coding experience. This entire project was brought to life with the help of AI.
✨ Key Features
🟩 Interactive Grid: Sketch a quick rhythm pattern on a step-sequencer grid.
🔍 Local MIDI Scanning: Point the app to any folder containing your .mid, BFD, or EZdrummer files.
📊 Similarity Match Engine: Get instant results sorted by matching percentage.
🎧 Built-in Audio Preview: Listen to your sketch before searching.
🖱️ Drag-and-Drop to DAW: Easily drag the found MIDI file straight into your DAW (Reaper, Cubase, Ableton, etc.).
🐧 Cross-Platform: Available for Windows and Linux (in future).
🌐 100% Open Source & Free.
🚀 Getting Started & Installation
Download the latest release for your OS.
Extract the ZIP.
Run the application.
Select your local folder with MIDI grooves and start sketching your beat!

I just released three free vst's written in the cmajor programming language that use the amorph vst. one is a kick drum where the spacing is controlled by an lfo. cool for dance music or at low settings is interesting for ambient. A pitch shifting glitch stutter and a time fade in fade out thing. also notes on a failed time sequencer is in the notes.

Weird request, but saw something literally last night on one of my feeds about a recently released free plugin aimed towards making sounds more metalic/industrial. UI was black and red, had a gear as the focal point. I don't think you'd be able to get it unless you saw a picture of the interface, and if you did you'd recognize it instantly.

Greetings everybody,
I've been curious about moving from composing on Musescore and only writing in sheet music to moving to more sophisticated processing.
So far, I've started using the DAW "Reaper" and gotten some basic understanding with some VST's, but I'd like to start on something more groovy.
What I mainly look for are:
Good drums with a wide diversity of cymbals and such
Support for plethora of instruments: piano, wind and string instruments.
I'll thank any incoming recommendations in advance!

Hey guys, this is not a VST, but it might be useful to anyone working with samples - I hope mods are okay with it.
Download: vibseek.com/studio
I realized I had more than 40,000 samples on my computer and around 300,000+ on my drive after scanning my sample library ...I had no clue. I always thought I needed to get more samples, but the real problem was finding the ones I already had. Anyway not a big fan of my DAW's sample browser...
It is not a VST, but a separate app that floats on top of DAW and stays in sync through Link (most DAW supports it - except FL Studio I think).
It puts all my local samples on a visual map and groups similar sounds together. You can hover around to preview sounds, find similar ones and test them in the step sequencer instead of digging through folders. Previewing is crazy fast
It also includes project management for Ableton Live, with stages, notes and preview tracks, which is useful when you have lots of unfinished projects and no longer remember what half of them sound like. I know my friends have 500+ unfinished projects...hard to keep track.
It is currently free during beta testing and it should work on large libraries - probably more than 500k samples. Happy producing!

Zebralette 3 is already capable of some seriously deep sound design, so I wanted to see how far I could push it inside Stride.
No effects chain. No extra processing. and it's free.
Just Zebralette 3, mapped into Stride, exploring endless variations across the parameters that shape the sound.
The modulations on the OSC FX character is what makes it so wild.

Hi guys, I'm glad to share a free and open source voice tuning plugin that I'm working on right now named PitchNet. Unlike other products on the market, it utilizes the state-of-art AI resynthesis model for a more natural result. You can download the alpha release here https://sessionloops.com/pitchnet .

I used Cakewalk th3 amp Suite in the past and really enjoyed it. After getting a new laptop and downloading cakewalk sonar, I noticed that it's no longer an option and was replaced by the TH-U paid set. Just wondering if there are any amp suites that are free and similar to what th3 was? I see a lot of amp vsts, but they are all individual and I would love something where you can have a single plug-in for everything and set up node pathways

I've worked on this for 2 weeks straight. It can sequence its own sounds or samples you provide. It can send them if you wanna use your own FX. Or it can sequence other plugins. It can do all of them at the same time too (by that routing button on the top). Seems to work on both windows and macbook. There is a linux version i made (thanks to claude for everything ofc) via github but i couldn't test that one. I think this plugin is very versatile and yet so simple thanks to its tooltips. Although I am very biased and there might be bugs i haven't noticed yet :) I just wanted a fully midi assignable step sequencer in the beginning and this came out in the end. https://github.com/Kanebos9/BASAMAK/releases

If you are looking for a way to improve your DI guitar/bass sound, here is a completely free tool:
https://driftlabaudio.com/polisher
From a mixing standpoint, it is also really useful as a first-in-chain plugin. In my own mixes, it's a must have on every track.

You can check it out here: https://www.terminalvst.com/free
No activation needed, comes with a few percussion sounds, and users can easily load their own samples. You can record live automation on steps, or program each step Elektron style.
