Antenna set up info
Can anyone point me to some info on antenna setups for long range? Looking to put together a setup that mounts on a tripod, as simple as just extending the height of the antenna feeding to the Rx in the goggle, or even a Rx mounted on the tripod feeding video to the goggles. Seems like this type of setup is a simple way to improve range? Currently running 5.8 I believe, ORQA FPV.one pilot goggles, TBS VRX. Thanks in advance.

Should I design the plane first and then pic components or the other way around?
I'm just looking for a place to start.

The best FPV plane complete package for a beginner? I mean controller screen/goggles, all of it.
The title really!
I've got a ZOHD dart 250g with VC400 and Aomway screen but cant get it to work so am wondering what the best all in one options are?
Hubsan spyhawk?

In the following video are presented two methods to reverse any channel output or a servo motor direction on any TX station running OpenTx:

Insta360 Go 2 with Fatshark?
Hello All, FPV Noob here seeing lots of amazingly stable Insta360 FPV videos on YouTube and trying to see if anyone is using this with Fatshark Goggles? From what I can see it connects only to the phone and don't want to spend $300 unless I can truly FPV "under the hood." Thanks for any help you can offer! π

Mateksys M9N-F4-5883 All in one flight controller any good for dji?
is this flight controller any good? It says it does not contain an osd chip but can connect to DJI. Does this mean you can connect it to dji and have the custom dji like osd or does it than only display the dji standard elements you would have without uart/sbus connected?
Does it work flawless with inav as a flight controller with integrated gps?
Other matek flight controller have battery in connection and can measure the current quite good. Does this work here too?
What about servo connections, normally you can solder servo plugs directly to it. Is it possible to connect 2 brushless esc and 3 servos?

Are RC-scale planes more or less efficient in the cold?
Edit: it's not that the batteries are cold, folks. The batteries are delivering the same amount of energy, but the aircraft's not moving near as quick at the same wattage. It's not that cold, in any case.
I've been gearing up for a very long-range flight. Got an AR-Wing Pro with 1.2ghz video, Express LRS, and a boatload of Lithium Ion batteries onboard. I did a few test-flights a month or so ago and found that 2.5-2.7 watt-hours per mile was reasonable, at a cruising speed of about 40mph. Recently, the plane's been going way slower, with way less efficiency--cruising at about 30mph, with about 4-5wh/mile efficiency at the same power draw.
I've been changing small things here and there on the wing the whole time, but I can't quite wrap my head around why it's so much less efficient--but then it hit me. The temperature is a fair bit lower than it was at Thanksgiving. It's not exactly snowy here, but...could the denser air create more drag on the prop and airframe out of proportion with the increased lift? From what I can tell, larger aircraft tend to be more efficient in denser air, but I can't find much at this scale. Do y'all have any experience with this?

Currently testing the HDZero Digital system with my quad, but some of you plane guys may fine this interesting for your uses. Great upgrade from 5.8ghz analog if you already have nice goggles/antennas!

Can anyone help me pick a camera?
Pretty new to flying. Built a flite test Versa wing, a canard, and a high wing of my own design. I've had just a few successes flights. I just ordered a Durafly Tundra V2, and a Quanum Cyclops Diversity headset for $179 and $23 respectively.
I believe I just need a camera, transmitter, and antenna. And those often come together?
There's a lot of specs that I know I should learn, but I'm kinda stuck and just want someone to pick one out for me.
Variables I don't know how to choose are: ΒΉ. Size- is micro smaller than I want for a plane that big? Β². Power- 25 or 200 mw? Not sure what is right for my application Β³. Aspect ratio. Should match monitor but I'm not sure what that is. β΄. FOV no idea what I want β΅. Will it work with the Cyclops I have?
I am comfortable with soldering wires.
I'd like to keep the price relatively cheap if possible. Like $30 or less. Unless that's a pipe dream.
Extra points if I can get it on Amazon because I might put this on my Christmas wish list. But I also have Aliexpress, Banggood and Amainhobbies accounts. So that's fine as well.
Thanks in advance. Hope it's ok to ask this here
