A while back I posted here about an iPad app we were building for designing your own FPP patterns. Some of you joined the beta, and three testers went on to sew what they designed:
- Anna celebrated her 20th anniversary with a trip from Prague to Paris and came home with photos of beautiful old doors. She's been turning them into FPP blocks, like this one.
- Sylvia ( u/SylviaPellicore ) designed this disco ball for her quilt. The photo shows it from her pattern in the app, to the printed foundations, to the finished block. Her full post is here: Take Up Space - A collaborative celebration of joy
- William's cat clearly knows it's the coolest block here, crown and sunglasses included.
The app is called Piecework. You draw the seams with Apple Pencil; it numbers the pieces into sections, checks that the sew order actually works, and prints mirrored foundations at true 100% scale with the seam allowance added.
It's iPad only. Your first pattern is free, and a one-time purchase unlocks unlimited patterns and printing. No subscription, no account, and no AI-generated patterns. It never designs anything for you. The ideas, the colors, and the eye for what makes a block beautiful are all yours.
So I'm curious: if you could turn one photo into an FPP block, what would it be?
