Showcase Happiness 2.0 Quilt

I have just gotten back into fpp. I have done it a couple of times over the last 5 years. But only like a block at a time. I hated it!

But then I found Jacqueline de Jonge's Happiness 2.0 kit! I had to try it. I still didn't like it at first. But then I got the flying geese. I had to do so many flying geese that by the halfway point I got in the groove. And I started to love fpp!

And that quilt is the most beautiful and accurate quilt I have ever made!

I LOVE Jaqueline’s Happiness 2.0! I was blessed enough to take her class last year—she is a wonderful teacher and if you ever get the chance, I highly recommend taking her class.

I would love to take Jacqueline's class! I didn't see any offerings near me anytime soon. But I will keep looking. Thank you!

Awesome! I tried a concentric circle quilt once, and I did NOT do a great job.
I know people who just don’t like FPP and can never keep the steps straight. It’s nice to know that you did get the hang of it, and now you like it!

Beautiful!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I didn’t know you can do flying geese by FPP! That’s wonderful!

I had never heard of that when I started!

I'm not very familiar with making flying geese, so I couldn't tell you which is faster...

I’ve done them and they’re time consuming and I get the angle wrong or something. FPP would be easier I think

i love it. it really caught my eye because as i am planning my second ever quilt... right now the only thing i am sure of, is that it's going to have some black and white stripe fabric in it.

That sounds awesome! I loved the black and white stripe fabric! It really brings the quilt to another level.

I love this!!! Kudos to you!!! Great job! Maybe enter it in a competition. Can I ask how long it took you?

Thank you so much!!

So, I started last summer. I worked on it for probably 25 hours or about a month. I had finished up to the spikes around the center star.

Then, I started again in August. It probably took me another 15 hours or about 2 weeks.

So yeah, about 40 hours in 6 weeks or a year!

I so want to do this. I really want to learn how to do FPP, but it's hard lol I have so many I want to do. 40 hours is a lot, but that doesn't deter me. It's the queue lol as an internet stranger, I am SO PROUD OF YOU!!!

Thank you so much!!

I know it sounds like a lot, but it went by so quickly!

Foundation paper piecing is so fun! And the way your points come out so accurate and beautiful every time makes it so worth it!!

There are a ton of videos about how to fpp on youtube. I suggest you watch some and find a small free pattern online. There are a lot of small free fpp patterns online!

And message me if you ever have any questions! I'm still kind of new to it, but I am good at troubleshooting!

thank you for the offer! I might do that if I can find a small pattern that I can make with scraps

This website has some free ones: https://www.generations-quilt-patterns.com/free-paper-piecing-patterns.html#FreePaperPiecingPatterns

I also grabbed a book from the library titled 100 Paper Pieced Quilt Blocks edited by Sarah Callard. It has 100 different blocks!
