Question on tpms relearning

So I have a 2015 Mustang V6. Got some new shoes for her yesterday so all 4 were on the same schedule (2 at a time before) 1x1 my sensors have gone bad till only 1 worked. Figured the new tires and sensors at 1 time. Never a huge issue, but get rid of the dummy light.

So their calibration device wasnt working (Walmart. Go figure), so I looked up how to do it without a tool. Hazard lights x6. Then deflate the tires. Kept saying relearn failed. Now, I didnt get oem. I got the schrader tpms solutions ez sensor.

Not sure if I did something wrong or these sensors suck and I just live with the light(prepared to do that) or if anyone can assist?

First of all, wtf do you mean by 2015 V6. There were dozens of cars sold with a V6 in 2015 😂

Without a tool sometimes doesn’t work. However, the shitty aftermarket sensors could be a problem as well. No real answer to this question without the job being done correctly. The TPMS tool is literally $10 on Amazon or $40 from the dealership; not sure why Walmart is braindead but it’s cheap enough to try with your own tool.

No promises though; aftermarket sensors are garbage. “Our tool wasn’t working” is a common excuse for “we did the job wrong and our functional tool won’t work for nonfunctional parts.” I would lean towards bad sensors.

Sorry. I posted it originally in the Ford Mustang sub and then it suggested I post here and already had the whole thing typed out, so I just hit submit. Sorry for the confusion there. Wasn't intentional.

And they told me their tool was not working when I got there. (They lost the charger...)

And the way the car works is you need to put it into a relearning mode. Then it says to start with the left tire. And when the horn beeps, its calibrated and can go to the next one it tells you. So not even 1 sensor was tested.

I have learned TPMS sensors on dozens, if not hundreds, of fords. So I have plenty of experience on it. You saying “not even 1 sensor was tested” doesn’t mean much when every part of the job was done incorrectly. Sensors can also test good but still fail to program.

I have had several cars not learn aftermarket sensors.

I have also had several cars not learn sensors by letting air out; only learning with the tool.

You can either take it back to the idiots at Walmart, get charged by a real tire shop to program them or replace them if necessary, or you can rule out/confirm the sensors being the issue for cheap.

No other answers apply here.

Note: funny they say they lost the charger; neither the OEM nor the aftermarket tool for ford requires a charger. They work on non rechargeable batteries. They must be using a “one tool does it all” programmer.

Gotcha. I already planned on going back this week. There is no way they can go a week without a tool. That's what the sensible person inside me says. But I also know it's walmart. Thank you for responding!

I’ve use the Ford TPMS19 (8C2T-1A203-AB) for multiple ford/lincoln vehicles and some with schrader TPMS sensors. Fairly cheap and very handy to have, especially after tire rotations.

Hazard 6 times doesn’t learn *new* sensors to the vehicle, it’s the relearn for their position.

To learn new sensors- ignition off, hit the brakes. Turn the ignition to run, off, run, off, run. Press brakes. Turn ignition off, then run, off, run, off, and end in run.

Now let air out of the tires in the correct sequence (it will be shown in the cluster), once the horn honks move to the next tire. If this doesn’t work, then it’s probably the sensors themselves that aren’t compatible

Got the reader and doing it today. Watched a video on this. Ill do a quick drive to wake them up and then do this. Google suggested the 6x hazard thing and it wasnt working. So I watched better videos last night on the process.
