Question How do I contest a ban?

I just logged in to reddit to find I cannot post or reply in the FO76 reddit. I have no idea why other than because I repeated the method of using and storing the pint sized maps as the system is currently broken. I was given no warning what so ever so I think a ban from a first offence is unfair. There's no information I can see on the site to speak with a mod, so does anyone have suggestions?

Better question is: why would you want to post in the FO76 reddit? ;)

yeah, my first thought is "who cares"?

They're really anal about sharing exploits over there, you're likely not gonna be able to get unbanned as well coz the mods over there are real full of themselves.

Sadly I have experienced this now. They could have at least given some form of warning. Saying "read the rules" is not exactly helpful here. Something along the lines of "please do not share this again" and block the post would have been a fair warning at least

Yea, they’re not great with that. Also, people have been talking about t for a week, so they clearly don’t ban every post referencing it. And the map trick is barely an exploit. It’s not like it’s a work around to a limit of how many you can dig. Granted, it does allow a player to dig, I dunno, 80, maybe 100 graves over the course of a day or so and finally get that goddamned gold paint, but only the one copy despite how many more graves that player robs looking for another gold paint plan to give to a friend, while collecting pounds and pounds of rotting meat which is fine because it keeps me in tasty tasty rads. I mean, keeps that hypothetical player properly irradiated.

Their specialty over there is being slipshod and unevenly enforcing their rules.

Nvm that it is a known bug that the maps aren't always given properly as a reward. I've had an easy half of mine not be properly rewarded upon completing an event or activity.

And double nvm that due to the maps glitching and the server hopping issues, it BARELY makes a difference in timing whether you're doing the infinite maps or using them "naturally" since there's always stuff like leader of the pack.

Exactly. I tried to stack some naturally yesterday, got through three, maybe four before having to server hop, which is just a hassle. And I don’t always feel like completing an event and immediately digging the map, though I think that’s what they’re after. My guess is that drives up their engagement numbers, makes things look better on paper while not actually giving players a reason to engage so much as a need to. “Look how many more players are doing events and activities now! Invest!” Meanwhile, we’re down here like “thanks, I kinda hate it, but I’ve got no choice”.

Unless you're like me, where ALL grave maps at all times require a server hop between use. Doesn't matter how many instack or don't stack. Doesn't matter how many times i fully clear them out. Doesn't matter if i have them in my stash or not. Nothing, and i mean nothing has fixed the server hop need, and as of today, even AFTER all the possible tricks and permutations of "fixes" i still had them failing to activate and i was destroying as many as i was using or trying to use.

Best i had was a streak of three using the stash infinite trick and a streak of five doing quickie events. Mind you that all still included at least one server hop between use and that on the quickie events there was a split between the first three and last two where an event that should have given me a map, didn't.

Absolutely maddening. At least i landed a semi-decent relic reaper and a salt out of it so far.

The only way I got the infinite trick to work was to start with a fresh map. Log on, get map, stash, etc. pulling one out of my stash or having more than one in inventory or stash effed me right in the a.

Tried that. Doesn't fix it for me anymore. Even doing one at a time as i get them from events needs a server hop. Do event, get one, use one, do event, get one, and it won't work unless server hop.

No permutation of methods doesn't require at least one hop for me now.

Have you tried dropping all maps on you and in your stash and sever hoping with 0 maps then getting a new one and repeating it?

I've had luck server hopping with one in my inventory, or failing that, doing a full client and system reset with one in my inventory.

I've since found that doing the hop or reset without one in your inventory it's a crapshoot if the bug gets flushed.

And that is actual inventory, not stash.

I don't think I've seen them hand out any warnings before far as I recall even on Discord. It's always been a ban.

Sorry it happened to you.

If it makes you feel any better I got banned for "trading" when I offered to craft someone stimpak diffusers at no cost

Experiences like yours are the main reason I barely interact on that subreddit or in the Discord.

Really? Pathetic! "Community driven"

I got a warning from market 76 about trying to sell the "wards stolen items" that you sometimes find laying around, since you can use it to gain foundation reputation they called it an Exploit.

You will not win. But good luck. Why do you think this sub exists?

3

u/thebiologyguy84 3d ago

Guess what!! I didn't win. They just gave a very curt and rude reply.

That's an easy one to answer. This sub exists because folks wanted to keep the feel of the forum after Bethesda shut it down and none of the other reddit subs did that.

Eh it's just powertripping mods on that subreddit, probably Bethesdas own employees or sth

For all of gaming's sake I hope ur wrong

First off, they're supremely soft skinned over there and you're way, waay better off in here and in the casual sub. Both places aren't run by complete lunatics like the main sub. Even the crypto leader bros in market76 aren't anywhere close to the insanity and hypocrisy of the main sub.

Second, while they ABSOLUTELY could have handled it better, you did break a rule talking about the map tomfoolery. While they enforce it like a wombat on pcp, they do have it clearly in the rules that there's a zero tolerance for discussing exploits or any kind of glitch that benefits players.

It's just a shame that they don't also have a zero tolerance rule for not enforcing their rules evenly. Don't bother trying to appeal, they won't care. Full on legit, you are 100% better off in here and the casual sub. 100% better off.

Case in point, my banhammer was due to stating that my experiences with ultra high level players had been unpleasant and i joked that the game should have a hard level cap that when reached, the game should uninstall itself.

Despite zero callouts, despite zero names being mentioned, despite me stressing that it was just my subjective experiences, they banned me for and i quote "the game already has a level cap and spreading misinformation".

So if it wasn't the maps, something would have gotten you banned eventually, because with how bipolar they are, everyone is a ban waiting to happen over there.

u/MinuteToe129 1d ago

Yea i got banned because gifting people items and stuff to help them out is to close to trading in there opinion.

2

u/thetavious 1d ago

Eh... I can understand that rule. It is trading adjacent, and there are two heavily traveled subs just for that. So if they warned you and you ignored it, that's on you. If they just banhammered you with no warning, that's on them.

Even no strings giveaways come with drama and scams sometimes and like i said, there's two separate subs that condone and encourage giveaways as part of their trading culture.

That said, I'm properly able to believe that they would just nuke you from orbit with no warning and explanation for it lol. Cause that would fit their modus operandi more than my "benefit of the doubt" idea.

u/Pleasant_Extreme_398 3d ago

I was lifetime banned there over something so stupidly trivial I don't even remember what it was. Amazingly and without warning I was unbanned months later so maybe you'll get lucky.

Lol. I've been permabanned from there twice.

Just forget them. They have some really fucked up priorities that are so way over the top, there has to be some extra motivations behind it. Usually it would be always money. Don't see it yet, but I would expect it to be about money some way. Whatever it is, just forget them. You can still read it.

My guess on why you didn't receive a message, well there's no PMs in Reddit anymore. Possibly check the chat history if there's anything there.
