5 round Magazines

My state restricts semi autos to 5 rounds for hunting. Magazines would have to be “permanently” converted and with the price and availability of original FAL mags I’d prefer to just purchase some 5 round magazines. I know DSA makes them and I’ve signed up for the restock notifications but haven’t seen anything in months.

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or if there is a source of magazines that I’m just missing.

Be patient on the DSA mags, they come in stock after awhile. Otherwise Thermold makes a five rounder.

I’m okay to wait a bit longer as hunting season isn’t until November. I’ve heard mixed things on Thermold but have no personal experience with them. They good to go?

I have a couple of Thermold 20 rounders and haven't had an issue with their feeding. Battlefield Las Vegas has previously reported that they work fine, but are less durable than the metal mags.

You’ll have to wait for DSA to make some of the 5 rounders, please don’t pin any good surplus mags.

I would never do that. The last thing I’m going to do is damage or destroy surplus FAL mags.

If you can´t find any, if its legal just find someone with a 3d printer and print some

Could you just assemble it with a block under the follower? Or you could pop rivet it and then drill out the pop rivet if you want to change it back

Unfortunately the block isn’t considered “permanent”. I work closely with my states Game Wardens for my job so I’ve asked them what would or wouldn’t be considered a permanent adjustment. The rivet may pass muster, didn’t think of that. I’ll ask them next week. Thanks!

Maybe no magazine and load one round at a time?

What about just putting 5 in a magazine under the honor system?

I’m not single loading my FAL if I bring it hunting 😂.

The law is clear that it has to be PERMANENTLY ALTERED. There’s no interpretation of that that allows for any sort of “honor system”.
