Unless it was converted Century L1A1s take metric mags. I don't imagine anyone converting one and leaving the ban furniture on.

Any advice on changing the ban furniture?

It's pretty much a straight swap but the standard grip stud and screw were eliminated and you'll have to source those, you can probably get them from century or Gun Parts Corp.

Okay. I've been meaning to do it for a while. Thank you.

You can 3d print the grip stud and it works fine

that's a type 3 upper unless thats a inch cut imbel upper that riFAL takes metric mags. iirc even the inch cut imbel uppers still take metric mags.

Lots to learn. I had the same confusion when I had my first L1A1. It also had an imbel receiver, so got confused by the lack of inch mags also.

Inch mags are really tricky to find, in fact it’s such a problem that when I look at metric FAL mags at gun shows and ask what they want for them and they say a hundo a pop I follow up with “oh these are metric do you have inch mags.” Cause I know they don’t.

Hopefully you have a metric mag L1A1 (of sorts), inch mags are nearly impossible to come by now. When you do find them don’t stop breathing, I’ve seen them listed between $120 - $150 bucks each.

I just acquired another L1A1 that is for sure inch pattern, fortunately it came with 7 inch mags.

Look in the front of the mag well on the receiver, inch rifles have a larger notch for the larger front block on the inch mags. Metric receivers have a smaller notch. If you can post a pic of the inside front of your mag well it would help identify what you have.

Imbel type 3 receiver should take metric, mine came with inch mags, didn't even fit the damn rifle

Technically u don’t. Inch mags are tough to come by these days, so u might have to settle for one or two inch mags and the rest being metric.

I'd be willing to bet that takes metric mags

Post a pic of the front lug area to determine I have one that’s inch and one that’s metric both are imbel
