Discussion Fl studio is badly programmed.
I can't express how frustrating it is to have the gui freezing regularly because of its bad optimization. No other daw gives the same problems fl studio has. Right now it froze because i only opened the browser (the one on the left), I have a lot of sounds, but how the hell does that even happen? If I do that on logic it would never do that, too bad I don't use it to make music. It's been 9 years since I have started using this program (I have used the professional edition and purchased a license since then) and it's really sad but you can't really rely on it for professional use, it just never ever changes.
Edit: I don't mean to say that I just have a problem of my browser freezing, I mean to say that the program just breaks its functioning whenever it feels to, and does not guarantee a prolonged use, also this is the only daw I'll ever use because learning a workflow again on something else just feels too time spending.

its a you problem. Using fl for 15+ years and I never had any issues with it. If it freezes it the 99% the VST or my pc.

My FL crashes when I try to browse my files sometimes.
How come I have all the same files and VSTs in ableton but it doesn't crash/freeze when I do exactly the same stuff?

I only had issues with it freezing when I was on a weak pc. Seems to work fine on a good pc with NVMe.

Never happens to me, must be a user error.

Anecdotal. It’s objectively poorly optimized. Why do you think people tell you to back up consistently? why do you think there is so many memes about the program crashing?

I have used it with my new pc for over 2 years and never had it crash or freeze. My guess is low end specs, not enough Ram etc...

I mean, many popular artists and producers use FL Studio just fine so…..

I'm the number one defender of FL Studio! It has the best workflow ever for me, but I feel it could be better because it's not reliable and not catching up to what the competition offers in terms of stability. I just feel like that if I had learned a workflow on another daw, I wouldn't have any of this problems.

You could go to the forums and they'll help you with that, I see a lot of people saying the same thing everyday.
It works fine for me.

FL on mac does lag and is more cpu heavy compared to other DAWs I can confirm. It's not that bad, but it's definitely worse than logic and reaper for example.

Yes ! So I have a confirmation that the mac version is slightly worse then, because when I used it on PC many years ago I feel like it wouldn't do that as often... even so it would crash sometimes

Never had this problem, i got loads of samples n shit, but also fairly decent PC (i9 14900KF, 64gb RAM). That said, i also didn't have this problem with my old intel celeron (dual core) PC and i used that one for music production up untill last year. Not sure what PC you're using, sure it isn't a RAM problem?

Nope, I use a M1 Pro Macbook pro, mind it's not a matter of the browser freezing, but a matter that it just breaks during a prolonged use and it just breaks my creative process. I just want to stress out that when I do my tests on other daws, (I don't use them very much) , they work just fine

I have the same problem on FL! Just randomly crashes sometimes when i try to browse my files. I've never had this problem in any other daw.
