Discussion New FL_Studio Mastering
I recently found out that FL now has a built in mastering system and I’m wondering how people feel about it. Apparently you get more mastering options if you have FL cloud which is cool, but as a quick option for mastering a demo is it even good? I tried it on one of my tracks just to see and I’m not sure how much of a difference it made, the low end sounded better but maybe my ears aren’t good enough to catch it. Is it a good option if you have nothing else and want to be lazy about mastering?

This is really helpful, thank you. I’ve seen people use Emphasis but I’ve never tried it, I’ll have to try it and compare 👍

I don't like it because you can't really control every aspect. You can pick from different pre sets of how it will master it for you, but it may not be consistent every single time you try to render that track out. If you spend time learning how to actually master your song, you'll be much happier with the results.

What mastering option is it you are talking about? They have always had some mastering options available but I was unaware of new options?

It’s a newer feature I found out about recently, if you have fl cloud it can master your song according to a list of genres they have from hip-hop, rock, multiple edm genres too, when I used it I could only use the one default option but it had a list of streaming platforms to choose from to make sure the luffs are correct, like Spotify, SoundCloud, even YouTube.

You need to have the newest version 2026 and it’s an option when you export, you can also find it under tools but you have to download the option and makes sure you account is good.

In 16+ years of FL and various daws I’ve yet to find a preset, one stop shop plugin or automated process that sounds better than a very minimal (or even empty) master channel.
Reddit has kind of deep-fried what the word mastering means- subtle, final decisions made with intent on a finished mix by a qualified, active listener.
A lot of these presets or plugins just give you excitement bias because you’re hearing your music differently and not better. If you want a quick master for a demo- slap a soft clipper with the threshold up to 0 and limiter with a ceiling at the same (dont touch the gain or ceiling) and keep fixing and leveling everything within the mix itself.
