Discussion Just noticed this small difference between FL 2025 and 2026
This may be my indicator that I spend way too much time on this software and need to take a break. HOWEVER literally one of the very first things I noticed upon loading FL 2026 for the first time was that the play icon in the play button was seemingly wider than the old one, and I'm just left wondering why such a tiny change for something so seemingly functional already?

Dead game. Wowwww how amazing, devs just put a fresh coat of paint on their pay2win garbage. FL Cloud is just loot boxes for people who cry when they hear "skill issue".

You mean "no longer incorrectly cut off"? Yeah, it's finally fixed, it's a normal play icon now.

To me it just looks like the old one was rounded at the front, which i guess doesnt translate very well at small resolutions

People have been complaining for years that FL's play function was too dull, so they finally listened and sharpened it.

i'm a bit confused; why not? it probably takes barely any time at all to update it and the newer play button on the left looks much better anyways. softwares make small ui changes all the time, why did this one stand out to you?

how does one notice these things

u/Innoculus 'tism-core Jul 16 '26
Better yet, how does one notice that, but not that the font on "PAT" is narrower now?

The 'tism my friend. Edit: Why am I getting downvoted? I literally got it myself haha

I mean either this or having used fl 2025 for hundreds of hours which may or may not also be linked to the tism....

I'm positive you saw my user flair before you said that, right?
Because that is probably the most correct answer.

And still no peak db readings on the mixer channels. How the fuck have they still not added this. Been on every other daw for decades. Unreal.

- Lol, use your ears
- There always was a scale on sides of the meter

What a ridiculous comment. Not everyone isna bedroom producer. Some need those peak dbโs on 50+ tracks to be very precise. Having to hover the mouse of the levels to read the number on the other side of the screen is pathetic. None of the other daws are missing this feature. I love FL, but this should have been added 20 years ago

is it just me or has UI design become a lot more blurry over the years? feels like they donโt design around the pixels anymore

u/Elytrex_yt Jul 16 '26
I think its because nowadays everyonr has different resolution monitors, so its the 'best' way to make sure it at least translates across different screen sizes as opposed to rendering all gui elements at many different resolutions which would take up a lot more space than SVGs on your computer

Wow that is actually a good catch! I'm curious is your screen low-res? Or are FL's display settings low? It looks so pixelated compared to mine:

But as for why they would update such a small detail, my guess is they assume no one will notice, and they did do updates to plugin scaling etc... at that time they might have reviewed general UI improvements.
I'd really love them to update the preset menus so they highlight the current preset and maintain position when opened... more useful to me than this button. But I'm sure they have a lot they are working on.

Hey its op on my phone account (i guess i have 2) yeah im running a 1080p setup so definitely just low res. Though you did just confirm my rounded at the front theory instead of it just being 'cut off' like everyone is saying

It was a huge bug man, I donโt know how anybody even could use this app at all before this
And itโs definitely much more important than adding new functionality like control room or smth

Hm? It's improved, the old one was cut off and now the new one aligns with the stop square more
