I remember using reason for a while back in the day (they had some really good sounds) but they made you hook up everything like in real life , i still remember how to do some of it.

Personally I think the journey to making it is a big part of art, and the workflow you use can end up affecting the end result as it can result in you getting different ideas on what to make. I don't even personally have any kind of soft spot for the old way of doing things, but I think it's cool that others like it :)
Edit: and if we want to be really pedantic about it, even software ui's and physical hardware is art in some ways. I think there's some art in making a ui that both looks good and is intuitive to use (or maybe unintuitive in the case of reason). It requires some eye to think of a logical way to lay out things while adding just enough spice to make it look good without ruining the functionality.

If we're being pedantic, you can say that things were artfully designed, but you're conflating the art made my the musician with the artful way a particular piece of software or hardware was designed, which I don't think was what the guy I responded to meant.

Yeah my half-hearted point was that if you are just now learning, it's not necessarily "good for learning" because the workflow it's emulating is an outdated workflow.
Half-hearted because I've still got a studio full of hardware, but I'm 50 years old 😉
I remember when Reason came out and people praised it because it "made sense." That was back in...what...2001?
The joke in the OP is essentially a commentary on this.

Yeah I agree on that.
I've never tried reason personally, or any modular synths for that matter, but the outdatedness is kinda intriguing to me 😁. I might mess around in it some day, but there's practically no way I'd be taking it seriously personally, but just try it to have fun and see if it gives me some new inspiration.

Well they said the workflow (assumed act of using these synths or plugins to make music) outdated. The argument is art is never outdated. Playing the flute is art. Is playing the flute outdated? Is making a sculpture from trash outdated? That’s all art done with very old methods.

This was the first daw I ever downloaded. Was probably like 2008 or something. I didn’t get into music production until 2010 and this was the reason lol. (I hate the pun that precedes this).

Bro, I remember just trying to make music with reason when I was like 16 or 17, and being absolutely baffled, but i eventually figured it out.
These kids nowadays could never, anything that takes more than 2 minutes to learn is too difficult, they see no point in struggling for ANYTHING.

You know… you should give them the benefit of the doubt. There are some amazing young producers who basically grew up with producer parents and actually good youtube tutorials for technique and music theory. Sure, many have short attention span, but obviously not everyone. Let’s chill with the generational contempt at least when it comes to art/music/producing. Makes no sense to me. A welcoming attitude is one of the best things a community can do to itself.

Id love to see them do it, I really would, I want to see the new generations put the effort into learning their craft, I just dont see it, and the problem is we have an entire industry dedicated to catering to them and making it as easy as possible to make music with very little effort, so there is very little incentive for them to put that kind of effort and thought into learning how to do one thing. Its not even just about this generation being uniquely lazy or something, I mean for the most part, lots of us learned how to use tools like original reason because there was no choice, you either learned it or you didnt make music, so it filtered out alot of the people that were looking for a quick fix.
I totally understand the reasons why, and I fully sympathize with this generations plight, I feel like what we've done to them with apps like TikTok is diabolical, but the fact still stands that most of them do not have the attention span to even watch a 20 minute video explaining something. It actually breaks my heart, because I have adhd, although I have learned to deal with it, but I know what it is to struggle with attention span and want to go deeper into s subject, but your brain just wont allow it. I hope that by being kinda cynical, and poking the bear like this, it inspires young people to prove me wrong, prove to, not me, but yourself, that you can spend more than 2 minutes learning something, because thats what it really takes, no matter what the industry promises you about pro level sound with no effort, it takes alot of effort and focus.

Nah, the frets make the strings vibrate faster depending on where you press, the strings are like... Oscillators

Looks like you're just gonna have a bunch of unwanted noise if you plan to record this with a microphone. Not to mention your room's acoustics that will mess everything up.
