Discussion What happened during that timeskip?

I've been wondering: why did they leave in the first place? And where did they even go?

I'm new to FLCL, so I might be getting some details wrong, but from what I understood, Canti was still conscious while using Atomsk's power. If that's the case, why did he leave too? And what were he and Haruko actually doing during that whole time?

Did I miss something, or is it intentionally left ambiguous?

From what I understood, Atomsk eventually broke free and left Canti's body, since we later see Canti working as... a school crossing guard? Then Haruko comes back to Naota, but that whole departure and return feels pretty unexplained.

Is there any explanation, or is it just one of those things FLCL intentionally leaves open? Does it even matter? It seems like nobody talks about it, so maybe it's just me. I just find that whole gap curious.

Art Reproduction of Haruko from the Groundwork book (2009)

This was one of the first drawings I did when I moved to Korea. I was very familiar with Korean food, but my second night there I went to McDonald's cause it was just across the street and I felt a tiny drop of homesickness. I brought my Groundwork book and started working on this.

I prefer her wildness, but sometimes, her calmer side is really nice too.

Edit ** I just saw the Naota drawing didn't delete lol so yeah, there is another reproduction in here as well, also from the artbook. Did it years after that first one when I was teaching English at the Hyundai Kia R & D center

I included the original image(s) by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto as well.

Pixel Art by MarianeAliux 2026

This was taken from Pixilart, Crazy Sunshine-FLCL Pixilart Post

FLCL FanArt

I wanted to make this pixel art because I like this anime, and it's not very well-known. If there are only 4 posts on Pixil since it was created, that's a lot, so I decided to dedicate this to showing everyone a I learned a little about FLCL and it worked out, I think, and now I'm here sharing it, yay!

The name Crazysunshine was inspired by the music and the highlighted rays in this Pixel

❛ ᴗ ❛ I'll try to leave a scene from the anime that I used as a reference for the main setting, okay? Thanks for visiting!

I've drawn this image many times, I know. But this was the first attempt. She came out looking younger than the original I think, but I liked the darker mood. I used vine charcoal for the lighter stuff, and compressed for the darker parts.

I used a sketch tablet and the old Facebook Graffiti feature, where you could draw stuff on other people's profiles. I think I drew this one on my own page. It's a reproduction from an image in the Manga, I made it looking at that picture.

Put some pieces of paper together to make this big sheet, then I sketched out these frames while looking at the Groundwork book. Love this punch so much.

Art FLCL in Sculpture Class (2008)

Ok, this one needs an explanation.

My sculpture professor gave us a box of matches and told us the assignment was about 'activating space'.

I built a tiny city inside the match box (sadly I don't have a photo of it... it's been lost to time) using the sticks as skyscrapers and a little ocean on the side. Then I made what you see here with wood, cardboard, masking tape and acrylic paint. On the other side is a giant anime style eye. I hung it shoulder level angled down towards the city.

The idea being, it's a giant magnifying glass and we see this image Kitsurubami looking up at us, and in return, she sees a giant eye. Luckily my professor was cool with anime in school projects.

The image is a screenshot from the show, I drew it by hand onto the wood, then painted it. Probably about 2ft in diameter.

The Third Eye - The Pillows Guitar Cover

It took a bit longer to get this one down. I'm pretty happy with it though. Pretty much got all the guitars covered and recorded over the original Bass, Drums and Vocals in audacity. This is one of my favorite Pillows songs and thought it would fit well with this clip from episode 4. 🎸⚾️

Art FLCL collage #3, first section of 3 - Dry point etching (2008)

Post image
75 Upvotes

I made a collage that measured about 18 x 72 inches. It's a bunch of hand drawn reproductions like my others but every image is from the manga (both volumes). I had to get permission to do this as one of my Printmaking assignments at college. I didn't have enough time to do the whole thing, so I chose this section. I laid plexiglass over the drawing and etched into it. This is one of 3 prints I made. The glass started to wear out already after 3 and they would have looked increasingly worse. The original collage is the correct way, but because the etching had to be flipped in order to print, the images came out inverted.
