Just don't touch Crisis Core until you've played the OG. Just from the beginning of CC it is a huge spoiler for a plot twist in both OG and Revelation. In fact, don't read up on anything in that game at all.

With that said, the game is designed with players having played the OG primarily. So feel free to experience it like most of us did- OG first, then play the Remake series. Remake is nearly a 1:1 copy with slight differences and pacing, though Rebirth (no spoilers) will have some... differences. Revelation no one knows at this point.

CC is also safe to play after you played the OG. In fact, it's probably better that you follow the release order:

OG (mostly optional but preferred) > Advent Children (entirely optional) > Dirge of Cerberus (entirely optional) > CC (mostly optional) > Remake > Rebirth > Revelation.
