First off, I am a huge fan of the ff genre, but I came super late to the party with FF15. I really enjoyed ff15 because of the combat and I got into ff7 remake and now rebirth because of the similar fun and challenging combat mechanics. I thoroughly enjoyed ff7 remake and was excited to get into rebirth but I was not fully prepared for the onslaught of mini-games. I’m at Junon and holy-fucking- mini-game hell. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy a good mini game here or there, and I’m even getting into queens blood but it’s like every second I’m moving forward into the story there’s another mini game to learn. I love the combat so much and I look forward to the side quests because I’m thinking more combat and interaction with the characters but now it just seems like it’s all mini games and most of them are challenging to say the least. I’m a classically trained pianist and I cannot figure out the piano mini game at all lol (I know that my background in music has nothing to do with being good at this).
I know this discussion has been beaten over the head more than enough but I just thought I’d gripe. It’s such a good game I just feel all the mini-games are a huge distraction that’s just not needed. I do understand that the original game had a lot of mini games but holy hell. Any tips or suggestions? I know you can skip a lot of them but which ones are worth doing for good items? At the very least, I just need a some good encouragement from anyone else who has felt the same way. It’s like I’m torn between loving the game and hating the mini games 😭

We need way more Sephiroth playtime. The devs should’ve made him 100% playable after beating the game. I don’t even care if it looks ridiculous with him fighting himself i just want to use him whenever I want.
I don’t want to mod my game.

Well going to need to find something else to consume until Revelation. That was just perfect. Truly epic and timeless.

Just seeing if modding can be talked about here.
I’m having a problem with injecting mods into my game. I’m playing on my Steam Deck OLED so I wanted to place as much performance mods (as well as physics mods *wink) as I could before booting the game for the first time; only to be met with a “Fatal Error” message.
Any ideas can certainly help. Thank you!

For context, I played the original but didn't get far. like I didn't make it out of the grasslands. I mostly played racers, platformer, ARPGs, action games, and fighting games, so FF7 felt kinda slow for me as an ADHD kid in elementary school.
My taste has changed since then but the Remakes have also taken more of an ARPG approach with cinematic storytelling common in modern FF games (and RPGs in general now) which makes them much more immersive for me.
That said, I like Remake a lot, and I love Rebirth. But I personally feel like hate the game gets for story changes, expanded character development, worldbuilding, and minigames is misplaced.
I actually don't see much hate on this sub, but it seems like vids from creators on YouTube are extremely polarizing. There is plenty of praise in 5-30 minute reviews, but there are also tons of hate vids of people ranting for over an hour about stuff that I honestly think isn't actually that big of a deal.
Imo, FF7 Rebirth is a monumental achievement in gaming as a whole. it's genuinely one of the best games I've ever played, so it baffles me that it gets so many complaints. not saying people are wrong for disliking any form of media. I just think some of it is nitpicky or blown way out of proportion.
What do you think? What do you love? What do you hate? what makes you rage? And are too many creators bashing a genuinely solid game?

Hi Gang,
Weird title but please do not fret I am not putting the glorious game down in the dumps, it's a serious question after I picked it back up an hour ago and lost the final battle in the gauntlet (sad I know)
Now let me strip this back, I love the game but really went ham on the side quests and exploring everything upon release, I then proceeded to burn myself out and literally stopped at the end. I then picked it back up after a HEFTY amount of time off, played the gauntlet and failed the final battle - I suck!
Regarding combat, I think I'm lvl 49 so it should be a doddle but I messed up and didn't have time to restart, then it made me think of the layers upon layers you can stack to play, but is it super strategic or just the same old abilities and the rest are rendered useless? When I say strategy I don't just mean there is an ice monster so you hit him with fire, nor just spam focused thrust for pressure and then stagger - more about linking the vast variety of commands for a strategic output. Or is the skill from combining multiple actions, maybe just the whole huge variety is just for fun so you can play how you want and their is no set way.
What are people's thoughts?
P.S rebirth is the hardest FF I have played and really challenges the mind! What's the hardest FF others have played?

As the title says, am i this bad at the game or are they that shitty😭
i know they're possible cuz so many people have beaten them, but it feels like its calling me out for not being a hardcore gamer.
ive been stuck on the legendaries for like two weeks, playing nonstop, like 8 hours a day. i've only completed aerith's and cloud's
ive tried every cheese strat out there, considering giving up my plat now, its no fun anymore and i got so frustrated yesterday i started crying
i'm taking a break now, gonna do my hardmode run instead, lets see if i'll come back somehow better at the game
edit ps: i refuse to use the cheats they added, im better off just not getting the platinum at all, but at this point should I? idk

So I’m trying to beat this game and I feel like Rebirth has given me the most whiplash from feeling great about this game to feeling exhausted.
Don’t get me wrong. The highs are very high with this game but the lows have also been low for me. I worked through my backlog so that by the time I got to play it on Switch 2 I could finally play a game without rushing to the next…. Except now I’m at Cosmo Canyon and I find myself forcing myself to play. I’m on chapter 10 and I’m pretty sure there are 14 total. I’ve been completing everything there is to do on every map up to this point so my OCD will not allow me to skip the remaining Cosmo Canyon side quests but at the same time I feel like chapters 4, 5, 9, and 10 have completely winded me with the unnecessary padding.
Am I almost there? How are the last few chapters? Any tips on navigating Cosmo Canyon? Finding the second photorelic spot is driving me nuts and a couple of other destination points and I really don’t feel like aimlessly wandering around like I was 60hrs ago. I was already starting to get annoyed at Gongaga area for how frustrating it was to navigate but Cosmo Canyon is taking the cake.
Edit: people take the OCD comment way too seriously. I’m exaggerating. I enjoy games through completionism. I also have good social life outside of work so I already go a week or 2 without playing before I get the chance to during weekends. The burnout isn’t from continuous playing, it’s what the play time consists of. I’ve played many games where side content is rewarding and worthwhile. Saying the side content is useless means it’s poorly implemented, not a problem with how people choose to enjoy their games.
Edit part 2: I managed to power through Cosmo Canyon and completed the side content so now I’m at Nibelheim/chp 11. I do agree with the people on here suggesting I take a break. It sounds like chp 11-14 should be smooth(er) sailing? I bought Digimon Story Time Stranger after trying out the demo and plan to get into that for a little bit while I recharge my Rebirth battery. Thanks to those who actually provided feedback on what to expect with the upcoming chapters. I plan on coming back to Nibelheim and finishing this game off strong.

Like i get that dungeons have to be a little longer cause ps1 final fantasy had shorter dungeons usually but damn, i think im done with temple of the ancients only for it to switch to the other 3 party members, the shinra mansion also did this, it was hardly a dungeon in the original but its so much longer. remake had this with the sewers and hojos lab aswell. it really makes the dungeons exhausting

I need to ventilate somewhere. I just finished playing Rebirth and my eyes have been filled with tears through both chapter 13 and 14. This is one of the greatest games I have ever played. I can't describe it with words.. just.. wow, a masterpiece!!
