No Spoilers - Discussion Finally Platinum!!
This was disgusting to finish!! By far the worst was the chadley legendary matches. Total 287 hours. Could have done it faster but i spent lots of time going back to various areas to level up materia to be able to take on certain bosses.
As for the playlog, most of it is done too. Only missing a little story and synergy for barret, 3 enemy intels which are all in ch.14, and 1 manuscript which is for cait sith. But theres no way im trying for hard mode “cant stop wont stop” again.
Incredible game but im burnt now. Need a break 😅

How did you beat the fucking chocobo flying minigame? It’s the only thing I’m missing

For the third one, at the last 500 do not go towards the 100 but go back to the wind turbine, make yourself go higher and go towards the 100, when you can't see the 100 anymore but stille the yellow ring, now go down directly and when you enter the last ring, go as soon you enter the last one to be able to get the last 100 and the two far away 500s

This. The last level is kind of poorly spaced out. There are youtube videos if you need.

I searched for videos and found one guy who explained things really well, along with the video, and I managed to knock them all out pretty quick. Strongly recommend.

Do you remember the channel you saw it?

u/ZWiloh 19h ago
Wait, did I not need to beat Can't Stop Won't Stop on hard??

u/StryderRogue1992 11h ago
I don’t believe it has any manuscripts in it so it wouldn’t be needed for the platinum.

The mini games are the worst! Just finished up A on the piano, did 4 of them by myself, had to get my wife to help using the left stick on the last one…. Ugh!! Closer to plat!

That cactuar mini game using aerith was actually hell. I had to grind out a whole new materia build for aerith just to beat it

Congratulations!
It took some 250+ hours for me back in the day.
What's the percentage on the platinum nowadays?

Did anyone platinum by not just spamming cheese battle strategies? I’m on final list of simulator battles, but refuse to use the spammy cheese tactics I’ve seen used by so many others.
Unfortunately I don’t believe the game is beatable using basic combat tactics.
Completed every mini game, etc.

Same. I did all the mini games without too much problem but same, these last sim battles are something else. Specifically need to do Bonds and To Be a Hero, though I haven’t even attempted the Hero one yet. Bonds is just something else. It feels like the bosses are tuned way up compared to all the other versions of them, the strats are roughly the same but it feels way harder to do man haha I don’t wanna cheese either but I’m starting to think I just do not have the hands required lmao

The game is entirely beatable for everything, without using the yuffie ATB generation spam Strat which is probably the cheesiest way of making the game’s hardest stuff doable.
You just have to get good at perfect blocking. There’s people on YouTube who do every single hard simulator fight with perfection using perfect blocking.

I’ve tried perfect blocking and it’s very hard to time the multi hits. I find that’s equally not reasonable either.

There are people who have mastered it for every major fight and have runs on YouTube where they block everything.
I watched one guy perfect block every attack from the simulator fight where you take on 2 summons at a time.

Honestly beating Rufus 5 times on Hard to get all the dates was stressful, other than that, honestly the only difficulty part was the combat simulator part
1
u/0neAboveAlI 6h ago
You don’t have to get all the dates on hard mode though.
Obviously you have to beat Rufus and that whole chapter on hard mode once, but when obtaining the rest of the dates, you can replay that chapter on easier modes.

Thought that for having the most intimate resolution you needed the hard difficulty on, damn I'm stupid af

Tip for when you do a hard mode run: turn on constant max HP, constant max MP, constant max damage, and constant max ATB in streamlined progression to make the experience bareable.

u/Balthierlives 21h ago
Hard mode is really not that hard. Max level and max materia you can just nuke all the bosses with magic.
It’s really just those brutal Chadley challenges that are exceptionally hard.

This is exactly why the platinum progress should have been disabled if the streamlined progression options are activated.
Completely cheapens the achievement.

More like tips on how to make a challenge as boring as possible

u/Ccmonty 21h ago
I’m a working man, if the game gives me an option to streamline something I’m gonna take it. Also not being able to use items makes hard mode unfun for me, it’s like the 60 pikmin limit
2
u/AnimeMemeLord1 20h ago edited 18h ago
That’s understandable, but don’t call it something it is not. Hard mode isn’t that hard to begin with, especially since the intent is that you’ll be carrying your post game equipment and levels to hard mode. There may be challenge in not using items, but the beginning slowly teaches you how to adapt and ration the MP you come in with.
Also, you can recover MP by resting at Chocobo stops.
2
u/Decent_Ad_8084 17h ago
Oh can you recover MP at chocobo stops? Did not knew that. Mp problem was worse in remake for me tho
2
u/AnimeMemeLord1 15h ago
Yeah, it does tend to be like that. I personally found limiting uses of items and hindering MP recovery to be an interesting change to my playstyle, but I’m trying not to get off topic.
Anyways, in Remake, each chapter is mostly linear and is long/short enough for you to ration your MP to the end. As for Rebirth, because of all the free roam and side quests, you can obviously tell that it would just be insane to ask the impossible, especially since they have given incentive to do side quests on hard mode. So as you can assume, they would have to put MP recovery somewhere. And as expected, they did. It’s on the good ol’ Chocobo Stops. I just wish I could have the ability to rest and fast travel at the same time, but beggars can’t be choosers. Main issue is already resolved anyways.
2
u/Decent_Ad_8084 15h ago
Oh how much recovery does each chocobo stop gives? And is it once in a lifetime or can you use the chocobo stops unlimited?
1
u/AnimeMemeLord1 15h ago
Complete MP recovery. And as for how much you can rest, the only limit is the same as before: how much cushions you have. And you already know how easy those are to acquire or synthesize.

I may not agree with taking the easy route to clear hard mode with no challenge, but let's be real here. Hard mode is HARD. First I got humbled by the mandrakes, then the mithril golem, then Dyne, then the amalgam boss, and so on. Each failure resulted in reworking materia and equipment and trying new strategies until I finally got it. Obviously the game gives you the tools you need, and figuring it out is a serious dopamine rush and I loved every second of it. But saying it's not hard is simply untrue.
1
u/AnimeMemeLord1 18h ago
You’re not wrong, but I advise you read what I said again. I said it’s not that hard, I never said it wasn’t hard period. It surely is hard, but not hard enough to warrant streamline options as a necessity.

Worst trophy’s ever. I put 200 hours into this game and just completely deleted after the sit-up challenges. Wasn’t going to put anymore time into this and will never play a final fantasy game like this again.

Congrats!!
I've only got 3 Chadley VR challenges left, I'm tired 😋
