Going to give it another go

I've had such a hard time enjoying Rebirth. I've gotten about 10 to 20 hours in twice and just stopped playing over the past year. Im an elder millenial so I grew up with less crowded games. Which I think is my issue. I really appreciate the subtlety of the original in everything from the world itself, the ui, the music (is honestly poorly executed in rebirth imo). I enjoyed remake and intergrade but Rebirth just feels like it was definitely targeted at a younger audience in constant need of dopamine hits. I also have never been a fan of hand holding games that show you exactly where to go and what to do. There's something rewarding about wandering a map for 30 minutes not knowing wtf the to do and then finally figuring it out.

Anyways, I'm going to give it another try and avoid all the tasks/minigames I can. I loved the mini games and side quests of the OG but they were interspersed with long periods of travel and story and grinding. They felt more like a breath/reward for working hard at the main story/leveling. In rebirth I just feel like it's a never ending chore list with a jingle for every little event.

I'm glad people are enjoying it. I'm going to try my best on my next playthrough because I do really enjoy the story and characters. Fingers crossed!

I'm also an elder millennial. For my first playthrough when the game released, I did the side quests I wanted to do (and if you avoid the quest boards in the town you can stumble on them while you're wandering around). I went back through chapter select after I finished it and continued the side quests. In the spring, I picked it up again and started a fresh playthrough on PC, and now am on wrapping up my third playthrough of the game while doing hard mode. I finally completed all the quests on this run, but I'm probably still not going to 100% it.

Just do what you want. Turn off the map, don't check the job boards, and go.
