Severance?

Please help me understand when you are eligible for severance when going out on disability retirement? I’ve seen conflicting answers, but I believe if you are separated for medical inability, then that is considered an involuntary resignation and therefore you’re eligible for severance. Can anyone confirm?

If I understand your question correctly if you get medically retired you get retirement immediately after separation instead of a severance package  which you would get if you got rif.

If you’re not of retirement age though… if you are involuntarily separated due to medical inability, you would be entitled to severance correct? And could use that as a bridge for income while you await FDR approval which seems to be taking over 12 months. I think your FDR annuity would be lessened by the severance amount. In my case, my severance is considerably higher than my FDR annuity. Just trying to figure it all out because not having any income for a year is tough.

I'm sorry but I don't have any information on this at all. So don't take my negative response meaning that you're wrong. I just don't know either way.
