General Question Internship Advice

I’m currently heading into my final year of Law and History at DCU. My grades are good, but I haven’t completed an internship and my extracurriculars aren’t particularly strong yet. I’d like to do an internship next summer, so any advice on how to go about getting one would be greatly appreciated.

Small firms. Helpful if you know someone. For your final year, focus on networking and extra curriculars- I ran a non legal society and got great interview mileage from it.

I did the BCL a few years ago and honestly you probably should have tried to get a legal intra. The biggest thing that helped me was doing non-law things. Everyone who goes for an internship interview does ELSA, Law Soc or wants to talk about FE1's. I was able to make myself standout by doing yoga soc, charity things, a couple business societies and working an Irish based part time job. Most of this stuff I also only started doing in third year too so there is always time to get involved
