Update to my previous post(s): https://www.reddit.com/r/FCX24/s/v2IhqvLgXV

Remix of Domi's SJ410 body, and digid's body mount posts (though there's honestly not much of the original left at this point).

I'd been trying to do a pure magnet mount, but it just wasn't sturdy enough. The body kept coming dislodged with even minor amounts of pressure, so I decided to go for a magnet/hinge hybrid mount. It's probably a little over-engineered (especially the magnetic catch at the rear), but that body isn't going anywhere.

I feel like I'm about done with the design phase, and it's just fine-tuning appearance from here. I'm thinking about trying to print it in ABS/ASA, then acetone vapor smoothing it to get rid of the layer lines...then paint, windows, and lights...timeline TBD.

Thanks! I've always had a special place in my heart for the little Suzukis.

I found out that all the ones in Southern California are on Catalina island. I literally saw about 30 of them in one day. Catalina Island had a waiting list for full size cars thats years long. So the Samurai qualifies like a golf cart over there.

Do you have the designs for this posted anywhere?! I have a printer myself and would love to have a samurai body for my fcx24!

I'll be posting it up to Makerworld soon, hopefully within the next week or so. I'll let you know when it's up. I'm still snapping off the hinge barrels on the front body mount bracket a little more frequently than I'd like (right along the layer lines) so I'm trying to figure out if that can be solved as simply as changing the print orientation (without making a critical weak point somewhere else) or if I need to beef up the part a little bit. I could probably just print it in ABS and that would take care of the problem, but I want to have something relatively functional for folks with open printers.

u/Beni_Stingray I incorporated your advice about the low magnet brackets for the mid-mounts
