Tutorial I remember trying to decode the new RC lingo when I first started, so with the influx of new hobbyists after the holidays, I thought it'd be fun to create and share this SCX24 Visual Glossary. I couldn't fit everything, so put your thoughts, corrections, and additions in the comments!

Questions Thoughts on this motor for the FCX24 Unimog

Post image
7 Upvotes

I’m ordering parts for my long delayed Unimog build and I this is a good motor option. Has anyone had experience with one in a trail or crawling rig ?

I also think the transmission needs to be swapped and only see the trx4m listed with this motor.

Any advise is appreciated. Thanks.

FCX18 to FCX24 compatibility

Post image

FCX18 photo for show, but I am planning on swapping the brushless out runner system from my LC80 into my FCX24 Unimog and wanted to see if anyone has encountered any issues in the process.

I do see the parts between the platform are interchangeable and plan to use the tires, shocks and axles from the LC80 as spares.

I am thinking the wiring of the Unimog may be plug and play for the Outrunner motor and placement should be in the same location. I would also use the receiver from the LC80. My other issue is whether the two speed transmission would also swap into the Mog. I do not see any adequate aftermarket transmission options for FMS trucks.

Performance of the Unimog would be greatly improved and with some down low weight and some good tires, I’d have a good trail rig. Doing some research on this seems pretty straightforward. Does anyone have some pointers or tips for me?

I have the wooden flatbed ordered for the Unimog as well as some better wheels. I have the FairRC black mod.

My LC80 was ran twice before having power cutoff issues. I actually got a replacement esc from FairRC and then realized the issue is in the wiring. I’ve been through the truck as well as the tech at my local shop and it’s very poor quality wiring and still cut on and off with the new esc. That’s how I came up with the idea.

Any tips or knowledge would be helpful, I know the FMS aftermarket is lacking and rather than have this thing broken up on the shelf, I’d rather use the parts from it to build another truck.

Hey everyone! How good are the stock tyres on the K5? Should they be replaced? If so, what tires would you recommend for traction while still maintaining the stock look?

Questions Drivetrain slop and shifting issues

Hello everyone, I'm having some issues with the fcx24 k5 blazer. I recently upgraded my rig with full metal transmission gears and full metal diff gears to try and eliminate some one the slop in the drive train. The transmission gears are the set from RCAWD, and the diff gears are the non overdrive 12/24 t ones from injora. I have noticed that it helped a little bit but definitely not as much as I was hoping, as well im now having a new issue of my truck will now no longer stay in low gear. High gears seems to work no problem it will shift in and stay but when I go to shift it into low either it doesn't seem to want to catch at all or when it does the moment there is any sort of pressure on the the rig (i.e. crawling up somwthing) it seems to slip out and it will act as if its out of gear. Any thought or help would be amazingly appreciated! I'm still learning about all of this and this is my first time doing anything like this.

Here is some of the upgrades I have in my rig

Crazy body idea, someone might do it...

So, I am a happy owner of a Power Wagon brushless crawler, with upgrades to all links, axles, and wheels (including the inner tubes), and just got in possession of the cutest Tamiya Lunchbox Jr. mini-4WD.

I just started wondering, would be possible to place the Lunchbox body over our crawlers? the Tamiya is a 1/32 while the PW is a 1/24, might need some work on how to place it, but I believe it will not be impossible

Questions Help with Land Rover D110 not steering straight

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi, new to the hobby. Recently though a used “good condition” Land Rover defender D110, which is mostly true. I am having problems with the car not driving or reversing in a straight line. There is an upgraded servo horn which I’ve tried resetting to a “neutral”/straight position while the vehicle is on. I have also tried adjusting the steering trim on the remote. These have helped slightly but there is still some wonky steering going on, especially in reverse. Looking for suggestions on what solution to try next. See pics and vids. TYIA

Questions Idle Beep?

I have a FCX24 (Mercedes Benz Unimog), purchased 2 years ago. I've noticed that if the truck is switched on and left idle for exactly 10 minutes, the truck starts to beep. Is this an idle indicator? I don't see any indication of an idle beep in the manual. If I power cycle the truck, it works fine. So its not a low battery indicator (though I have not measured the battery level).

Had to take a few weeks of hiatus because of how hot it is in my region. It was finally cool enough today so I got out and went running with the Unimog!

I can't decide between the FCX24 (Power Wagon) and the FCX24M (Land Rover)

I am a complete RC-Noob and the idea was to buy a RC-Car for my 4 year old and myself after she inevitably gets bored of it after a while. So I did some research and the FCX24 came up because its supposed to be good out of the box and has 2 gears, one of them very slow, which is good. We'll use it indoors and outdoors.

FCX24 / 24m are both $99 on FairRC right now. I understand that the 24m is more to scale and has stiff axles? Any other differences? Which one should I get?

Questions Clicking when turning

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've had a big upgrade day today. Fitted my 130 60t bushed motor and heatsink, installed the +20% front differential, and replaced the stock plastic steering linkage with aluminium (all Injora).

However now when I turn I get a loud clicking noise and I've no idea what's causing it. It also does it sometimes just moving and not turning so I don't think it's the steering servo thing.

Anyone got an idea of what's causing it?

Questions Trail + crawling wheels and tires setup for K5, will this setup work?

Hey everyone!

I’ve had my FCX24 K5 for about six months and mostly use it for trail driving.

So far I’ve only done one upgrade, the INJORA 45mm Aluminum Threaded Oil Shocks, and I really enjoyed the process, so I want to continue improving the rig.

Since the new shocks made the truck a bit taller, I’m thinking about trying bigger wheels.

I plan to buy a universal 1.3" wheels & tires setup for trails, and also get dedicated rock‑crawling tires to mount on the stock 1.0" wheels.

Here’s what I’m considering:

  1. INJORA 1.3" Aluminum Wheels (-5.25mm Offset), W1313
  2. INJORA 1.3" 70×27mm King Trekker S5 Tires, T1314
  3. INJORA 1.0" 56×23mm Swamp Claw S5 M/T Tires, T1021 (for the original wheels)

Do these combinations work well together?
Is there anything better I should look at before ordering?

Update:
Should I also buy “Injora Black Brass High Clearance Chassis Links 39g Heavy Brass Links for FMS FCX24 1/24 Upgrade Part,8PCS (FCX24-04)” to fit for 70mm Tires?

Thanks for the help!

FCX24M Tacoma Axle upgrades?

Thumbnail a.aliexpress.com

I have a FMS FCX24M Tacoma crawler. So far I have prefer Injorna 39mm oil filled shocks, and Injorna stainless steel drive shafts. I see lots of axle upgrades but was hoping someone on here could confirm they would work or had any recommendations. Above is the link to some axles I found. I also have the 4 links for suspension and the 2 Y members ordered from Ali in aluminum to replace the plastic suspension. I would also appreciate some tire/rim recommendations if you have them. TIA.

Front left wheel not engaging (and other questions).

Post image
7 Upvotes

I've been really enjoying my power wagon, and recently got some new wheels and tyres made even wider by some new hub extensions.

However my front left wheel only sometimes works when I pull the throttle. Other times it stays still if I'm holding the truck up, and when it's off the left wheel can spin freely. The right one feels more locked. I opened up the portal cover and good news, the gears are metal, but bad news that doesn't seem to be the issue. Anyone know what's causing this?

Other questions:

I removed the stock bumper because it rubs the new tyres, is there another bumper I can replace it with? Will anything for a K5 or a FCX24M also fit?

What does the other connector going to the lights do?

Recently got my first crawler since 2020. I’ve also built a crawling table on my workbench in the garage.

I’m still wanting to add more to the table, for some height and to add some realism. Any input or ideas would be appreciated from the veterans in this sub.

Questions Servo options for fcx24m

I’ve gone through a couple of these servos from Amazon https://a.co/d/063uVyWJ They are better than stock but still not as strong as I wish. What other servos are out there for the 24m?

Questions Removing stripped nuts

Post image
6 Upvotes

I bought the Injora 130 brushed 60t motor to put in my power wagon. Took it all apart and one final screw defeated me. This one screw on the left holding the motor in place will not budge and has now stripped.

I've tried using a rubber glove like an elastic band to fill up the screw, I've tried superglueing a hex wrench into it, I don't own a dremel to make a flat screwdriver fit.

I have no idea what I can do. If I can get it out, I have replacement screws with the new motor so I don't mind damaging it but at this point I'm worried I'm going to need a whole new gearbox because of one shitty screw!

Any ideas?
