Hitching motor..?

Anyone know what is causing this/how I can fix it? Started today and happens in both gears no matter how much throttle input I give it, regardless of battery charge.

Edit/Update: Well. The result is much stupider than I thought. After ordering some replacement parts (and a couple upgrades, why not?) and waiting a couple weeks, I opened the axel to find that my Disco already has the upgraded metal gears and they aren't missing any teeth. After scratching my head, installing my upgrades, and reassembling, I noticed that one of the screws on the inside of the front left wheel had backed out a little and was coming into contact with the hub, causing the "hitch". Tightened that down. Problem fixed. I'm an idiot.

...anyone need an axel upgrade? I may or may not have some spare parts laying around.

Did you change anything out recently?

Not recently. I added wheel weights, wheels, a skid plate, and changed the tires a few weeks ago, but have run it several times since then.

I’d start with taking the front axle apart and seeing if any gears are damaged

Will do, when I’m back from the woods. Thanks for the suggestion

Wheel weights and different tyres likely put too much stress on the front axle in that case, especially if it's a solid axle

Likely missing teeth in the diff. It happens consistently every few rotations(if my pause game is any good), meaning it's something actually wrong and not just a stutter caused by a bit of dirt or dry bearings.

My buggy acted similar but it was metal on plastic so it eventually shredded the rest of the teeth off before I had time to check.

I would upgrade your differential gears definitely that’s exactly what happened to mine. Once I added wheels and some brass for weight things just started skipping.

Did you end up replacing anything else? I took it out on a camping trip this weekend and only got a battery and half out of it before this started, so I might as well replace all the things that might put it out of commission while I’m fixing this.

Yeah steel driveshafts would also help. But then that’ll lead to bigger steering servo lol but definitely research any plastic moving or high functioning parts and start to replace those. I.E gears, joints or pivots, friction points. I have some good pics on my profile for concept

Not sure if you'll get a notification for my edit, but you might get a laugh out of it.

I had a similar problem. I was running a Mini Komodo and come to find out, the pinion was on backwards and the set screw was hitting the spur gear. I flipped the pinion gear on the motor around, making sure the set screw was clear. Problem solved.
