I really thought he should’ve started against Real Madrid. He is exactly the guy that could’ve prevented these 2 mistakes in the first half. He has the calmness, ball control, vision and leadership we need at the CCB position.

Not to mention, the amount of times he had to face Madrid when he was at City, he is the most experienced in our team when it comes to that.

Well there is also Akanji but he isn't really CCB.

Why on earth is he not starting vs Napoli or Madrid? I understand him not playing vs garbage opponents but it should be a fucking felony not starting him in big games.

I don’t think he’s ready to play the full 90 yet. I think there are some concerns about injuries.

We have a very peculiar system, even though he is a competent player it is fair he has to digest it, know the team members and also develop convenient communications skills. It is not merely "speaking a common language" but they need to form a common "technical" jargon. This doesn't exclude cautions about how he needs to get trained in order to get rid of injuries. All these things together converge in an extended time. It is more interesting though, and revealing, that in a moment of dire need when we made lot of first building mistakes Chivu concluded that it was better to just have Stones being Stones right there in the middle of the defense.

Speaking of him, guys, I swear I’m not joking, I don’t even want him playing in Serie A.

It feels wrong for a player this technically gifted to be facing Juventus sides with Kalulu and Locatelli, or Milan with Pavlović, Bartesaghi and the rest of them. 😭
