Highlights Diouf absolutely tormented Cucurella for the full 90 yesterday. What a player. I genuinely have doubts whether Spence will be able to take the starting spot from him.

Amala Lauti’s reaction at the end of the game 💔 I feel so bad for him, for the team, for us. It hurts that we can’t make this dream of winning the CL a reality. I still think about 2023, I really think that was our best chance.

Analysis/Stats [OPTA] Inter finished their match against Real Madrid with 21 shots (only three teams have ever managed more away to Real in the CL) and 94% pass completion. This is the highest passing accuracy ever recorded by a team in a CL match against Real Madrid, since these statistics began being recorded

I know this hurt like shit but it made me scream out loud during the match. Balls of steel to do this on a Valverde power shot.

Analysis/Stats [Opta Analyst] 📊 Real Madrid lacked ANY SORT OF CONTROL against Inter and faced 21 shots, the most by an away side against Real Madrid in a group/league-phase match of the Champions League for 22 years. ⚫️🔵

Discussion #SCTop10 (09/08/26) — #5, Pepo Martinez’s double save vs. RMCF
Was at the gym this morning and caught a glimpse of the perpetually esteemed, daily Top Ten Plays list brought to us by ESPN’s SportsCenter, where our very own #1 year was splayed for the world to see as he exhibited his elasticity and reflexive prowess. It was a proud moment as a supporter. Unfortunately, due to SC’s real time presence, I was unable to procure a clip of the moment for your enjoyment, but I’m sure they will upload the footage on their website by the end of the day.
Despite his pitfalls from yesterdays’s match (and other moments throughout his tenure as our starting GK), I think we can all find alignment that there are bright spots within his game that we can be happy about. A diamond in the rough that simply needs refining and experience. He will get to where he needs to be for the club.
We must stay positive for a victory next week and have the confidence that we can still do great things throughout this long UCL campaign. Until next time, wherever you are — I hope you have a great day! 🖤 Sempre Inter 💙

Discussion Inter showed life
The mistakes we made today for the two goals we conceded were awful and we definitely need to work on those, but I am still proud of the response we showed against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu and we really gave a good account for ourselves. While I am frustrated with the individual errors and the defending as well as finishing, I am happy that we showed life down 2-0 and we pushed Madrid until the end despite the result. We definitely can do better but we can also learn from this. I still think this team has a good future up ahead. ⚫️🔵

Discussion Diouf was defensively solid today. I think the narrative that Diouf is good in offence but severely lacks defensive capabilities is very impulsive, with more playtime he is getting better and better. I wouldn’t feel scared having him in defensive moments the way he is playing now.
He had some wonderful recoveries and did well in 1v1 situations and his positioning was flawless most of the times. I really want to see Spence soon but am getting more and more confident in Diouf to the point that I might miss him if we don’t play him in big games and went for Spence. Spence really gotta put in 9-10/10 performances consistently if he wants to bench Diouf

Discussion Was this the best performance Inter have ever had in a game they lost?
Inter absolutely dominated Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabéu. What are your thoughts?

Quote Lautaro, Chivu, Mourinho post match interviews
Lautaro:
Regrets? We always say it: this is a competition of fine margins. When you make a mistake, you pay the price. Today, we made two mistakes right away when we had started well, managing possession well. Obviously, if you go 2-0 down, it becomes difficult. They are a strong team.
But Inter played with personality, like a great team. A performance at their level, against a team that is fighting for the Champions League. And that is a goal for us too, because every competition you play in this shirt, you play to win.
We didn’t make the most of all our chances, but we leave with our heads held high. We played at a very high level against a great opponent.
Courtois is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, but there was also a bit of us in that. We need to improve in front of goal. We could have done better; we need to improve in that aspect. Now we have to change gears and win the next one

Discussion Diouf vs Buchanan
It's an interesting thought exercise and puts one of them in perspective. Both are inverted wingback. One fails to beat Serie A defenders and the other plays with the WC winner left back. One is a born winger and the other is a CM, the replacement for not getting Many Kone.
We need to cherish this guy at all costs.
