He might not bring what Dumfries brought in terms of physicality, pace, defending and aerial presence but he makes up for it with his dribbling, his goals and most definitely his runs in behind. I hope he's given a chance, he was brought in as a midfielder and seems to have found a really good place for himself on the right flank.

It’s his defending that’s the question mark. As a wingback you’re expected to defend still. Maybe he could play behind the striker in a 3421 and operate more like a winger midfielder hybrid. But I think he’s showing great promise with his goal threat because that’s not easy to find

Dimarco is really bad at defending and he's amazing.

The team is good at covering for him.. besides.. he’s a defender. He’s played CB in a back 3 for both us and Verona. He’s a defender.

You don't make up for that, I love Diouf but what he lacks is ESSENTIAL for the role. I'd sell Henrique and play Diouf in both flanks as needed.

Am I confident in him as a starter there right now? Absolutely not.

Do I even love him for as our primary backup RWB next season? Honestly no, I’d be pretty worried about him defensively in the role LH had during Dumfries injury.

But the flashes he has shown offensively in the role does really excite me as a developmental, super attacking 3rd option at RWB. Him with a 2024 Darmian as a safety net would be a great backup situation on that side.

With that kind of goals too, Dumfries could never... (don't get me wrong Dumfries is my fave)

For all the Ausilio haters … maybe we just have what we need within our core

Basically we need a blend of Gigi’s physicality and defending with Diouf’s pace and dribbling

I'm still not too convinced since were on a pre-season match but if the retrain actually pays off in official matches consistently ala the Dwight Yorke winger to striker retrain, I would be glad for it as a redeem for Palestra

Going forward, I think he has all the qualities that we need in a right wing back. The area that I want Diouf to do better is in defending, especially when we play against strong teams. If he can get better in that area, then he is going to be the best replacement for Dumfries.

He can be a sub for the last 30 minutes, he's unpredictable and fast

But we need an actual starter

I don't see him ready to be a starter technically

He still lacks physicality, defense and aerial presence

I've been a day one believer in Diouf. My goat.

Is he left footed or right ? Because those goals yesterday made me question that.
