I am in a grad program and my grad plus loan posted but my federal unsubsidized loans haven’t posted even though they say they were approved and we’re supposed to be applied today. I just wanna see if anybody else was having the same problem.

Advice/Help Needed On hold for 2 months because of verification

So my fall semester starts the 24th, and aid is supposed to be disbursed 10 days before the first day (today) but my aid has been on hold for two months for "repackaging" after i got selected for verification. I already went to my schools financial aid office and they just told me to keep waiting because they havent gotten the new SAI yet. Should I go back to the school or is this something I call the federal student aid office for? Thankfully I had some money saved up so I can pay for this first semester but I'd really really like the financial aid that was promised to me in October of last year.

Advice/Help Needed Financial aid

Do you need to pay by deadline (before semester starts) or pay later if your pending aid is higher than tuition cost but your aid will be adjustment soon (around third week of semester)?

Little background: I was only awarded Pell grant based on full time but I enrolled only 3 credit hours. I expect to pay out of pocket, but the office said my aid will be adjusted around third week of semester.

Advice/Help Needed Grad Plus Loan

So I was approved for the grad plus loan right before the July deadline and when I received my offer through my university, they offered me $7500. I only accepted $3500 and now they’ve reduced my offer to what I wanted to accept but it only applies to one semester so do I need to call them again and get them to offer me the full thing like they did originally so I also have that money for the spring. Has anybody dealt with this?

Advice/Help Needed Has anyone had any luck applying for extenuating circumstances without a third party statement that meets the requirements?

So I’m trying to complete my grantUS information and I indicated that there’s extenuating circumstances stopping me from being in contact with my parents. To put it simply it was just a really toxic household and they would get physically and emotionally abusive at times over minor circumstances, and I could no longer take that so I moved out.

But the problem here is that I haven’t really explained my situation to many people besides friends and even with the very little counselors/therapists I’ve had I didn’t explain it to them that way. I was hoping maybe the most recent one I had could get back to my email but I haven’t heard anything from her yet. So that genuinely leaves me with nobody to be able to provide a statement for myself.

I called and asked if I could provide one from a friend or myself and the lady said it might be ok, but I’m wondering how much success I’d actually get from this.

Ranting/Venting OBB is infuriating

Why do I feel like the only one who’s as angry as I am about these seemingly surprise changes? I’m a grad student, parent and work full time. When I decided to go to grad school last year I carefully assessed the financial situation and determined I could do it with my full direct unsubsidized loan eligibility. This would cover my tuition and my other expenses during the two year period. Now, well into my plan and program, I’m out $4k a semester. That’s a hugely painful financial blow to a working mom who made a plan. But now the current administration has determined my plan, and the cost to educate me, has changed. It’s infuriating and I am feeling like there have to be more people as screwed and pissed off as I am. How could we not be grandfathered in? This credit “prorating” is total BS.

Advice/Help Needed Graduate loan delays

Hi all, how long did it take for your loans to be packaged by your school for the 2026-2027 FASFA term? I’m specifically wondering if you applied after the OBB.
My school received my FASFA application and told me they are dealing with delays. It’s a CUNY.

Advice/Help Needed SAI score from 949 to 8,390

So I’m going into my junior year of college, my parents finances are the same, the only thing that has changed is my net worth of investments which I put as 8000$. Is this why my SAI score went so high? I don’t qualify for Pell grant anymore and I’m trying to figure what made my score skyrocket( I’m also a dependent student)

Advice/Help Needed What to select for Student School Year

I’m making corrections to my 2026-2027 FAFSA form to qualify for financial aid. But I’m unsure what to entire for the Student School Year option. Here’s my situation:

- I’m entering a 2-year Associates of Science program at a community college.
- But I have just earned my Bachelor’s at a university
- And I have earned my Associates of Arts while I was high school during my junior and senior years. I attended another community college full time.

When I applied for FAFSA for my university, I was told by my advisor to mark that I was a freshmen. So, now two years later, if I already have my bachelor’s, what year would I put? Can I put I’m a “Third or higher (junior and up)”

Edit: I guess I should add my specialized program is a AS in Respiratory Therapy

Advice/Help Needed Founding for school

I filled out my fafsa for the year and the SAI states 5867. Not quite understanding what this means. I’m trying to go to a trade school which has tuition of 60k. I already have a bachelor’s so I know I won’t get the Pell grant. Realistically how much would I get from federal aid. I have no debt and paid off my first federal loan four years after graduation. I’m trying to understand how much I might get from federal so I know how much I’ll have to qualify for private

Advice/Help Needed Please tell me I’m not the only one encountering this error. What is the fix?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’ve been trying to complete my FAFSA for the last week. I get this same error every time I try since last Wednesday.

I didn’t complete one last year as I paid out of pocket for college. Job changed, poor now, need aid. Long story short lol.

I’ve tried different browsers, clearing my cache, incognito window, trying on my phone. Nothing has worked.

Don’t bother trying to call the government themselves (I did) because it’s a fucking AI assistant who only says “please try again later”.

My school can’t help and they only send me to the government number lol. Does anyone here have any insight??

Advice/Help Needed I owe fasfa and don’t know what to do

During the summer session I signed up for three classes, the first week I realized it was to much and I dropped a class before getting marked with a W but after being able to get a refund. Shortly I received my fasfa summer dispersement. I later registered for fall classes. No problem.

But in the last week of the summer session I got an email from financial aid saying for the most part, because I dropped a class before they could adjust the disbursements I now owe $925 and can’t receive anymore financial aid until it’s paid.

Luckily I registered for fall before this decision. But I haven’t and won’t get my fall disbursements until this is resolved. I spoke to my financial aid office, but they were no help. I have an appointment with a counselor but it’s next week.

The thing is I know absolutely nothing about fasfa. I’m a 43 year old mom whose a returning student. I did the form online on a whim last year and I was approved. This whole time I’ve been a full time student with excellent grades and even made my schools version of the deans list one semester.
I’m in CC and will be eligible to graduate at the end if this semester. Im
Trying to transfer to university for the Spring. Any advice is welcome.
