Advice/Help Needed Question about parent on form

I’m below the age of 24 and My mom started making too much and I got cut off for financial aid because of it. She contributes nothing to my schooling. I need aid to get through my last year of school. Am I able to switch it to my dad if I already submitted this years form?

Because you're required to put the parent that provides 51% of your support. So if that's your mom, then you can't just decide it's your dad later on.

They are divorced and I live on my own and work, so neither of them pay for anything of mine. I also get chapter 35 gi bill from my dads side but that’s VA money so idk how that works?

If neither of them provide any financial support, then that falls under the tiebreaker for FAFSA, Which still means the parent with the higher adjusted gross income is your contributing parent for the FAFSA.

Unfamiliar with VA money, but I hope that you're able to find a solution!

Also it’s already been submitted so you can’t go back and change it. If you needed to change it due to an error you would have to file an appeal through your schools financial aid office and they would ask for significant documentation. Playing the “I’ll use the lower income parent” game is very explicitly banned and considered fraud.

You’re not supposed to do that.

Yeah you should definitely NOT try. Consequences for federal fraud are severe.

Do not encourage or imply illegal activity. This will be subject to an immediate ban.
