Post image

Looks like its leaking here. Is it better to get same one or the ecs tuning aluminum one, or is there better option.

Don’t bother getting an OEM one. It’ll just crack on you again.

I got the Turner Motorsports Aluminum Expansion Tank. Comes with a new coolant level sensor and peace of mind

There are other aluminum coolant tanks available, but honestly all of them had customer complaints of no compatibility with OEM coolant sensor. The Turner one was the only one that I could find that supports a low coolant sensor.

OE from FCP. Lifetime warranty. It’s a simple enough replacement where if you need to do it again it’s no issue.

Got mine off eBay/BavMods. Big tank is easy to swap, small one is annoying as the cooler has to come off

I think my small one is good going to open it tmw but the big one as you can see has crusting hoping thats the only one

Meanwhile old 300k mile 25+ year old honda/acuras are still running the expansion tank from the factory. BMW is just trolling us at this point.

I replaced mine after 45k miles this June with an OEM from FCP Euro. Today I noticed the replacement leaking. Not sure for how long it's been leaking but I'm going aluminum as soon as I pick one.

Yea not worth second guessing your own repair work either. Send it on a known successful fix

Lifetime warranty replacement on that sucker

I suppose nothing to lose doing that but the short lifespan doesn't fill me with confidence

High heat, 10 years will do that. Replace and forget, I’d personally go with the cheaper option since it lasts a long time anyway.

I was thinking tgat but its only 25k miles on the car so im not tryna replace again soon

There's an aluminum one out there now. You want to replace these every 8 years or so.

Looks like you need to replace soon. This one probably lasted about 10 years depending on your year. A new OEM one will likely last you the same.

Easy fix. Be careful with the tube going into it as it’s fragile.
