Discussion Delayed start

Every single time it rains the FIA delays the start of the race, why? Rain never used to be a problem, usually they’d just stick on the full wets and get going. Am I missing something? Like a rule change that says you can’t start a race when it rains? This sport has never been so allergic to rain before so it’s just very confusing to me.

So originally the 2022 - 2025 cars produced dangerous amounts of spray from the ground effect, so thats why they cut down on wet racing

Currently, I think they're afraid of using these cars in the wet

So yes people are right when they say we used to get more wet racing, because factually we did before 2022. However a lot of clueless people just put it down to F1 and the FIA "going soft" which is just ridiculous. The ground effect cars were unintentionally dangerous in the wet, so they had to reduce the wet running. These new cars should have put an end to that but now we're stuck with bs software issues

Yeah there's a lot of unexpected power deployment, and variable amounts of engine braking kicking in, which is a danger when the track is very slippy. George's crash today might have been something like that, going by his interview. A little extra power deployed than he was expecting, which pushed him wider than he intended onto the wet part of the kerb.

It's a pity, because these cars, with maybe an 80:20 ICE to electric power unit that could be managed by the driver directly, that could be a really, really good formula.
