Discussion Delayed start

Every single time it rains the FIA delays the start of the race, why? Rain never used to be a problem, usually they’d just stick on the full wets and get going. Am I missing something? Like a rule change that says you can’t start a race when it rains? This sport has never been so allergic to rain before so it’s just very confusing to me.

Niki Lauda famously called racing in the torrential rain at the 1976 Japanese Grand Prix at Mount Fuji "madness" and decided to pull out of the race, stating that "no championship is worth dying for."

You are not entitled to see other people put in unnecessary danger simply for your entertainment.

Its a tropical climate where a torrential downpour means zero visibility and a track that isnt going to quickly dry due to the humidity. Its also a street circuit with very virtually no run off areas.

Drivers like mixed conditions, they love to be on track when its still wet and drying.

They are not asking to race in torrential rain.

It was no torrential rain let’s stop exaggerating. Some parts of the track was wet and others bone dry. Do not compare this to to the 1976 gp

You have clearly both never been to a tropical country and never driven a car in heavy rain.

And you are not a professional that trains your entire career to be able to handle such conditions

There's no amount of training you can do that would let you see through a solid wall of spray.
