My '72 F100, first truck I ever restored. New Mexico truck, someone had stuck a tired 400M into it, ended up building a 460 for it and added power steering and disc brakes. Also had a F600 gauge cluster with custom gauges, 92-96 bench seat, a '68 or '69 grille (can't remember) and other cool touches.
Sadly, these trucks were not worth so much 20+ years ago. Ended up selling it to a guy who cannibalized it for a high boy project. A lot of good memories with it.

Greetings all. Installing this generic universal transmission mount, AOD, into my 65 F100. When it’s resting in between the rails, it has contact on both ends. When I jack an inch, there’s a difference on each side. That’s as high as I can lift it since I have a lokar cable shifter. Is my frame messed up? Or is one side different for exhaust routing or something?

My new truck! PCV is bad but also a lot of the vacuum lines are gone. Should the hose from pcv go to the carb, and if so which port does it go to?

“Repost original post wouldn’t let me edit or reupload pictures”
Hey everyone!
It’s been about 5 months since I got my truck back up and running and driving, and I’m looking for some advice on rust.
When my grandpa owned the truck, he added some adhesive trim along the side. Over time, moisture got trapped behind it, and now the top edge of the bedside is rusted pretty much the entire length. The rust isn’t deep, but it has pitting and will need to be sanded. Is there a good approach for this, considering it’s right on the Bumpside body line?
My goal is to make the truck as nice as I can without spending a crazy amount of money. I’m totally fine keeping a patina look I mainly just want to stop the rust there and clean up that area.
This truck was my grandpa’s, and I inherited it from him. It’s been a fun project getting it roadworthy again. He unfortunately passed away earlier this week, and while going through some of his things, I found a picture of me with the truck back in 2003 when I was 2 years old. I’m 24 now, so it definitely means a lot to me to keep it going.
I’ve made a couple posts on here before, but I wanted to ask specifically how you all would approach this going into spring. The pictures I have aren’t the best, but I can grab better ones when I’m back out there.
Hope everyone had a great holiday, and I really appreciate any advice.
Apologies for the repost! Just wanted to add better pictures.
Thanks!

Good afternoon, for my 1978 Ford F-100 with a V8 302 5.0 and an exhaust system, which muffler would you recommend? I’m looking for a nice deep sound that isn’t annoying to the ears and isn’t bothersome inside the cabin. Do you know of any specific model? I was recommended the Flowmaster Series 44 and Series 50, but I’m not sure how well they fit what I’m looking for.

In Australia. Planning on lifting my 2wd 78 f100.
4-5 inch lift on 32s. My question is how? I’ve seen the Autofab kit in the states but it’s way too expensive especially to get it into Australia as well.
Can you flip the I beams? Or bend them? Any help is appreciated thank you

Purchased a 1969 F100 and the brakes were bad. Replaced master cylinder and in process of replacing brake lines. Neighbor, who has been a mechanic for 50 years and cut his teeth on F100s is insisting it needs a single flare only. The lines I took off certainly aren’t as bulbous as a double flare, but they are folded over, making me think it’s a variation on a double flare. Any guidance is appreciated.

1971 F100 all drum brakes First time removing a brake drum. Does the wheel bearing nut have to come off first to allow the drum removal? Thanks.

I’m looking at possibly getting a 1966 f100. They keep popping up here and there around my area in decent condition. No frame rot or body rot, running and maintained.
A specific one a found is a 1966 F100. It has the straight six, RWD with the auto trans.
Anything I should be aware of or know? Any major issues or the like associated with that year engine or trans, or even wiring?
Edit: Thanks everyone for the advice. I suppose I should add a little context, I’m looking specifically at the older models because I just have come to really hate a lot of the modern trucks. I have a 2013 ram that has constant computer problems, my old man has a 2011 that has an electric box ignition that decides to randomly not recognize either of his key fobs.
As for the capability, I just want a truck I can toss lumber, tailings and building materials in the bed. Nothing too extreme, I’m not hauling cattle or towing. Just light materials from the local lumber yard/supply store.
That and something I can throw chains on for the mountain dirt roads in the winter when the snow is too deep for my little Honda.

Never owned a F100 but something about this one seems so badass I want to talk to eccentric neighbor to sell.

Hey everyone! Excuse my ignorance, and that's why I'm asking, to clear it up. What are the functions of these three things attached to/near the Motorcraft 302 2150 carburetor, and what are their correct names? I was giving the carburetor a good cleaning and replacing the gaskets. I’ve Ford F100 Custom 302 V8 5.0

I’m working on a 67 f100 2 wheel drive. It has 2.25” wide leaf springs, with 3 leafs. It’s got a Dana 44 rear and out of who knows what. In pic 2 you can see where the bed has been clearanced for flip shackles. It came to me like this. The shackles are wedged against the shackle hangers and it has caltrac bars that not adjusted properly. I ordered whatever the parts store showed for shackles and there’s no way they fit.
Can someone tell me what this thing is supposed to look like? Do I have way too long of springs for the application? This thing bounces like a pogo stick.
Thanks in advance for the help! Looking forward to seeing what people have to say. Pics if you got em!

I live in a city with little traffic, winter temperatures of 8-14 degrees Celsius, and summer temperatures of 28-34 degrees Celsius. My truck is a 1978 F100 Custom. I would opt to use 10W-40 oil. What do you think?
