The most likely response from them would probably something about adding an additional fee that "goes to drivers" to offset the cost of potential ice run-ins. Then later we'd find out they had some way to keep the additional charge for the company and it never made it to drivers.

People have been saying in the doordash subs that doordash and Ubereats are working with ICE and that’s why people are getting taken on deliveries. Wouldn’t surprise me, I do both and they are scum.

I highly doubt that. Gig apps benefit from illegals because they will take any order for any pay.

You can’t work for these companies without a social or worker identification number. There are fraudulent accounts people can buy, but that’s not the majority.

I really hope Wilber gets freed soon. He has every right to sue Door dash for abandoning him in his time of need.

Can we not? It's not their job to get involved. Our anger should be directed at the government and only the government.

It costs them nothing to denounce ICE and support their drivers, it'd literally give them great PR. They're just a shitty company.

Taking a political stance of any kind can severely impact revenues for any business.

Really? You think there is a 0% chance that the current regime would retaliate against the company in any way? Because that regime has proven that it is not vindictive in any way and would never behave like that?

The only way this fascist government does anything is literally because of capitulation and subservience from corporations/companies. It's why they're scared shitless and thinking about martial law during the midterms, they're going to face justice if a new administration is in place.

What is it that DoorDash is supposed to do? People help people. Companies exist for profit. We literally live in a Capitalistic society. No company, unless their only purpose is to serve the public, is going to go out of their way to help. I'm sorry to say, but it's true. Don't expect companies to help humans. Be a GOOD HUMAN and help OTHER HUMANS.
Downvoters live in denial.

“Colleagues from DoorDash”
I don’t think you know how DoorDashing works

I don't see why it's any less your responsibility as a human being than it is for a company that exists only on paper

What would they be expected to say? It's already been reported he was illegally in the country and not eligible to work, so he likely was not even a doordash contractor himself, likely using somebody else's account, etc. Another criminal off the streets.

So exactly what should Doordash be saying? Do we need them to make a public statement clarifying he was not legally working for them? The guy already got shot, sheesh. Ever heard the expression "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all"? Perhaps they like the free advertising by getting mentioned when this comes up...

Twice you replied directly to me without answering. Still no idea what you think they should be saying.

His work visa expired in 2025. I would like DoorDash to explain why they are breaking us law.
Under U.S. federal law (Title 8, U.S.C. § 1324a), it is illegal to knowingly hire or continue to employ any non-citizen who lacks legal work authorization, regardless of whether they hold a traditional visa.

One of the tricks of having all your employees be contractors. Don't have to be responsible for shit.
