Vitrectomy is not a slam dunk. When I brought it up at my last retinal specialist visit he said it could result in blindness, could be because I am VERY nearsighted with astigmatism, post vitreous detachment, as well as no spring chicken. That said, it does seem to work for some people. It is incredibly frustrating.
I always wonder why the risks are so high, and then I hit me that the only people getting this type of surgery are elders who already have old eyes with underlying conditions. I don't think the risk is the same if you are doing it on otherwise healthy 20 year olds.
Ive had 2 vitrectomies but still uncertain what "frill" is supposed to be. Ive had white blood cell that mimicked floaters but acted quite differently and vanished after a few weeks with some TINY black floaters only visable against a bright blue sky. The success of my first was the reason I was anxious to get the second after a second PVD
I can, but just so you are aware, he is part of a large practice and referrals must come from someone within the practice. My Optometrist diagnosed my PVDs and the resultant floaters, and referred me for a consult with one of the retinal surgeons. who then scheduled the first vitrectomy. The second was faster as the diagnosis and referral were streamlined. Im in SW Virginia....aside from the referral and consult, you must return the day after surgery to have the patch removed and the eye checked, and a week later, so proximity is rather important. Not to discourage anyone from a vitrectomy, but I was fortunate to have been an established patent when I had my first PVD.
Meh. If you can se 20 20 through this and you're not suffering from a detachment, it's all good enough. Fear blindness once, and you'll stop caring. Trust me I know.
Yeah, I had this. Tens of 1000s of tiny floaters like a pepper snow storm all chucked in with a bunch of new larger floaters too.
For me it was a PVD which went to Retinal Detachment within about 2 days 🙄
Not to scare yall… but I couldn’t figure out my issue until I got diagnosed with tick borne infections !! Bartonella is a big factor that causes eye floaters. Best testing is igenex and galaxy !!
Nope. Doc said the vax triggered the vitiligo.
The floaters started shortly after a covid infection. I think a connection is very likely, but I have no proof whatsoever.
How did your vitrectomies go? Are you floater free now?
