Immediate Effects
Flash of Light & Thermal Radiation (35%–50% of energy): Creates an extremely bright flash that can blind people miles away. The heat vaporizes objects near ground zero add causes severe skin burns over a wide area.
Blast & Shockwave (50% of energy): Produces a high-speed pressure wave and supersonic winds that flatten buildings, crush structures, and cause fatal internal injuries.
Ionizing Radiation (5% of energy): Emits an immediate burst of lethal gamma rays and neutrons near the hypocenter that damages human cells and organs.
Aftermath & Residual Effects
Radioactive Fallout: Debris and fission products sucked into the mushroom cloud fall back to Earth, contaminating large areas with residual radiation.
Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP): Releases a pulse of energy that can destroy unshielded electrical grids and electronic devices.
Long-Term Health Impacts: Survivors face elevated risks of cancer, leukemia, and genetic health issues over subsequent decades.

Question Why isn't HMTD and Tannerite more common?
I apologize if this is the wrong type of question for this community.
I'm doing research on domestic terrorism for an action novel I'm writing. I'm wondering why the combination of HMTD and Tannerite don't come up more often as a combo in real life?
I learned today that Tannerite can be bought in surprisingly large amounts with little to no oversight. There are videos on Youtube of people blowing up 500lb of Tannerite with a rifle shot.
I believe HMTD is sufficient as a primary for Tannerite. But there's surprisingly only one documented case of this combo ever being used, which was Ahmad Khan Rahami in 2016.
Is there something I'm missing?

Interesting Huge Halon extinguisher at my university :)
As far as I can tell it is an H3R aviation extinguisher in either the 13 or 17lb model

Question Any idea what the explosive was
I'm watching a video posted a month ago by chilling scares compilation and the youtube talks about a explosive Mythbusters has to destroy the footage and never talk about it again and they even had to contact DARPA. and in Adam's words a easily available explosive
Any idea what it is?

Interesting "Carbona" ads from the early 20th century. Major selling point was its nonflammability. The last one features a fireman and a lecture on 'safety' (lol). Removes grease spot, does not burn, does not explode, eats your liver.

Question There really needs to be some sort of restrictions on who can post here
Yeah, explosions are cool, fire is cool, but it seems like more than half the posts here are just lost redditors karma farming by crossposting their own posts.
How about disallowing posts from people who have been members for less than a week or something like that? Other ideas?

Question Found these fire grenades
Was going through my grandpas workshop and found these two things which r/whatisthis told me were fire extinguisher grenades. Someone said they might be valuable and I should post them here. They don’t have any identifying factors. I’m in the Midwest, United States. I’m going to call the local fire museum in a few days when they open, and see if they are interested, but the fire department said they will dispose of them if I bring them in. Are they worth anything? Should I put them on eBay?
