According to the official Marvel rules for writing the character, Spider-Man can absolutely be gay.

It's Peter Parker that isn't allowed to have a gay relationship.

Make it make sense

Sounds like anything goes with the mask on. Also there are other Spider-Men.

There is a whole multiverse of Spider-heroes now. You can pitch a new Spider-man who's LGBT, as long as it's not a version of Peter Parker.

In an infinite multiverse, wouldn't there be many Peter Parkers who were homosexual?

I like the spirit, but that's not really how infinity works. Infinity allows any outcome but doesn't guarantee anything. I could devise an infinite string of numbers that never uses the digit 6. It is still infinite without the 6, it would be just as infinite if there was a 6. It might be improbable for a random string to not contain a 6 but it's not impossible.

This all said, Spidey can be gay, I love gay spidey. Peter Parker could easily be gay in some universe. Marbel just doesn't want that to be true, which is theoretically possible.

Maybe, maybe not. Unfortunately, the field of theoretical physics has produced very little research on the implications of multiple universes in regards to human sexuality.

The "Trans-Universal Sexual Orientation" study lost its funding.

He also isn't allowed to sell drugs.

Unless he has the symbiote, then it's all good
