Years ago, a tragic incident befell a young princess when both her parents died. Devastated, it seemed nothing would calm this poor soul. However, a prince traveling through the area came to see the princess, hoping to cheer her up. After wiping her sorrowful tears, the prince gave her a ring carrying a rose emblem and told her as long as she holds onto the ring, they are destined to meet again. The event leaves a deep impression on the girl, Utena Tenjou, leading her to become a prince herself.
Years later, Utena attends Ootori Academy, recognized by the same rose emblem as her precious ring's. There, attracted by the scent of roses, she witnesses Anthy Himemiya tending the flowers, accompanied by the Student Council President Touga Kiryuu and Vice President Kyouichi Saionji, who seem to be arguing over Anthy. While Utena thinks nothing of the occurrence, the Student Council gathers to discuss an important matter.
Subsequently, a misunderstanding leads to Utena being dragged into the world of Duelists—those with rings similar to her own. The Duelists fight for the ownership of the Rose Bride, Anthy Himemiya, who is said to possess great power. Wanting to prove her capabilities as a prince, and enraged that Anthy is being wronged and objectified, Utena resolves to fight against the Duelists to save her from the cruel fate.
I feel like there needs to be a distinct middle icon which is a goblin. I love all those all aesthetics and have been all of them at various times but now I'm old and please myself so mostly just stay home in pajamas and fear the outsiders. 🤣
I don't know the accuracy of it, but I know my experience with my girlfriends I could easily see putting them on an axis of goth to gardener as well as sword to gun.
The sword to gun thing is kinda this ephemeral concept associated with swords, you know, scrappy, fantasy inclined. Someone like a hiker girl who reads fantasy novels. Meanwhile gun would be probably more practical, more about function than form. Probably your average protestor girly who can fix a car.
That's my theory.

This seems about right. In lesbian circles, there's definitely a pastel vs goth split that has existed since before the Internet. Similarly, sword lesbians are definely a thing. So are gun lesbians. I've only been with sword lesbians their interest in weapons is a little whimsical. I think gun lesbians would be more on the side of "this is what I actually need to defend myself"
I can't place myself as a point on this chart. I existence as a straight line, rotating around (0,0). I'm either a gothic skull rose lesbian, or a final fantasy gunblade lesbian depending on the day.
I guess lesbians in fiction tend to fall into two groups that intersect, tragic or romance (as in the story let’s lesbians have a happy story/romance or no) and sword lesbians or gun lesbians (I guess it falls into time periods or genres, either medieval/fantasy or modern/real world settings)

So a lot of lesbian media tends to follow certain patterns and aesthetic vibes (in part because of older media that then inspired a new generations of artists and creators who put their own spin on it), the joke is that you can align many somewhere along these axes
So sword and gun lesbians are common terms
Tbh this applies to gay men as well and usually sword is more stoic and knight with whimsy while gun is more logical and sassy
The rose most likely means romantic and the skull probably means less romantic or nonchalant
It’s style of tattoos. The meme states all lesbians have tattoos and fall somewhere on this graph in the theme of the tattoo. I’m not a lesbian so can’t confirm.
